Pilots on a holiday jet were left stunned when a 'flying man' whizzed past their aircraft at 3,500 feet.
The mystery man flew within 100 metres of the plane and left the pilots baffled as to how he was moving through the air, as neither could see a canopy suspending him.
There was also no sign of him on the radar and further checks failed to reveal any paragliders, parachutists or balloonists in the area at the time. He appeared from nowhere as the Airbus 320 passed Macclesfield while it was coming in to land at Manchester Airport and has been dubbed the 'Superman of Macclesfield'.
Aircraft to be made from 'human-like skin' to enable them to feel damage and monitor their health... x Now you can fly like a BIRD: Flapping Oculus Rift machine makes humans feel as if theyre soaring...
The Airprox Board, which looks in to near misses, said: 'They first sighted the object a few hundred metres in the 11 o'clock position 200 to 300ft above.
'It passed down the left-hand side of the aircraft at 100 to 200m.

Is it a bird, is it a plane? No - it’s a mystery man flying past an Airbus full of passengers as it flew over Macclesfield at 3,500ft
AND I got an unrelated line of text in the article, too. It should have looked like this:

Please note that the first picture this second-rate rag of a paper shows is a “stock image”, NOT a picture from the incident.
Yes. And the text of the rag says that the flyer had no apparent canopy attached to him. Hey, has anyone seen Tony STark lately?
Over and out.
LOL!
"Pilots on a holiday jet..."
It was Iron Man or there was far too much celebrating going on in that jet.
Seriously, I suspect one of those “flying suits” that have become so popular in the last few years in Europe. Probably jumped out of an aircraft. I can’t visualize too many mountains in that area.
The mystery man flew within 100 metres of the plane and left the pilots baffled as to how he was moving through the air, as neither could see a canopy suspending him.
Ebola motivated the mystery man!
I’ll be interested if the pilots saw him ascending.
A person in a flying suit, Dwain Weston, smashed into Royal Gorge bridge in Colorado a few years back, 2003. Killed instantly...which was probably a better death than the 1,000 foot drop to the bottom of the gorge.
Apropos of nothing in particular, I saw an amazing special on cable the other day about a bunch of guys who - believe it or not - attached lightweight motors to their backs and para-glided in relatively short spurts all the way from California to Kittyhawk, North Carolina.
Anyone else see that?
It was pretty amazing.
Wingsuits appear to have been inspired by a flying squirrel, with fabric between the arms and legs. Here’s an exciting video shot in the US, base jumping in what looks like Moab, Utah:
No. I missed that but it does sound fantastic.
Here’s a compilation of wingsuit “proximity flying” from around the world, base jumps, also from planes and helicopters, some very high altitude. Mountains, flying through waterfalls, etc. Urban, between skyscrapers, past the giant statue of Christ in Rio.
It’s got to be one of the most exhilarating experiences imaginable, but I have no idea how anyone learns to do this without killing themselves. From the looks of the names scrolling in the memorial the end, the fatality rate is high.
But, wow. If I were half my age I’d be very tempted.
Yup. But one of those guys hit a cliff about 6 months ago (just a blurb - not the same guys, of course) and he had to be identified by DNA, there was nothing larger left...
