This was a great movie. He was wonderful. It could have been as manic as Robin Williams, but he kept control just enough. When you can quote more than one or two lines from a movie years later, it is a good performance.

Apparently Jack Nicholson warned Ledger against taking the role.

i agree, plus he did bulk up’for the role as well. i thought he was good. and, unlike some in the role, he was taller.

nicholson’s joker was in between tv joker and heath ledger.

for criminals, i prefer darker, not campy. i suppose i like keaton’s way of being dark versus bale’s. keaton seemed more 3-dimensional as a real person character.

And those overly puffy lips when he donned his mask. I was embarrassed to look at him.

I thought the tv series was so much fun, and each of the villains indelible.

It was a distopian dream of the left, all the crazies released—just like BO is allowing and encouraging now.

Maybe he can team up with Clint Eastwood playing Dirty Harry.

For a couple of movies based on comic books, I thought those were pretty good. Michelle Pfeiffer helped with part of that.

Anyone have thoughts on the new tv show Gotham? I like it so far but not sure where exactly it will end up or how long it will last.

Michael hasn’t done anything worth watching in more than thirty years.

I think “Beetlejuice”, also directed by Tim Burton, was the best role I’ve seen Keaton. He was hilarious. ....Anytime I see that old movie (’88) on my cable schedule I watch it just to escape from the doom and gloom of today’s news and to get some good laughs.

Agreed. Nicholson’s is campy, but I remember at the time that director purposely made it feel like a comic or cartoon. I think it was intentional. Probably to bring in the children’s audience so they could sell more toys.
