UKDailyMail 10/7/2014: Epidemiologist says US must stop all flights from Ebola-stricken West Africa to prevent more outbreaks in America David Dausey, a Yale-educated disease researcher, has argued that the bungled handling of the Thomas Eric Duncan case proves the US must close its borders to keep Ebola out of the country He is one of the first experts to advocate the closing of borders The CDC maintains that blocking flights from West Africa would make the Ebola outbreak there worse by hurting the local economy

'. . .Air traffic is the driver'
All we see now is the smoke and mirrors.
he program will really begin with the news that sick people have been found wandering in the S.W. desert areas.
The holes in our defense are too obvious to ignore, and exploit.
Dear Professor Alessandro Vespignani of Northeastern University in Boston you'll never work in the obola administration with that attitude. You Sir must get your head on straight according to the obola crowd. Look for the obola crowd to show up and place a coat on you with the buttons on your back side and then proceed to turn your head around to straighten your head, Sir. Speaking the truth, Sir, is not allowed.
granted Obama is a POS for not banning these fliughts.
But I’d like to know where are the republicans calling for these flights to be banned? Maybe I missed it but I haven’t heard even one yet. Where the F are they?
Unless its a person or business fleeing taxes.

vs.
Heck with waiting for Obola and the gov. to ban flights.
Why can’t the airlines stop flying into W. Africa? Refuse to take transfers from other airlines via European cities.
OK, suppose for a moment that that's true (absurd, but go with it for now).
The CDC is a unit of the UNITED STATES Public Health Service. Not the LIBERIA Public Health Service.
Suppose that erecting a cordon sanitaire meant that every man, woman, and child in Liberia would die, while not doing so meant that thousands of Americans would die.
What do you think the American people, acting through their representatives, would choose?
This is (another) example of the abdication of self-government. People would NEVER NEVER EVER vote to open our borders to infectious Liberians in this way.
I think the airlines would probably get sued or Obama would get an injunction to force them to fly. If I recall correctly, when all of this started, Delta stopped flying (briefly) to one of these countries, possibly Nigeria, simply because the aircrew refused to go.
But I’m not sure an airline could manage to do it for any length of time unless the government orders all of them to stop flying into these places or code-sharing with lines that go to these places..
"While United and Delta airlines are the only US-based operators serving Africa, heightened Ebola vigilance would require a broad net, covering travellers on other non-stop flights from the continent and those who connect via European carriers in hubs such as London and Paris. Fliers at risk would then need to be scrutinised for any history of exposure to the disease."Sounds like the current occupant of the oval office is not listening to his medical and national security advisors again. Just like with Iraq, IS/ISIS/ISIL.
Why did Ebola have to become a national security priority? He could have nipped this in the bud long ago.
The aircraft captain has the ultimate go/no go decision.
If the pilots banded together they could stop the flights regardless of what Obola or the airlines said.
If I worked the cabin on flights I’d be very concerned.
Didn’t Air France stop flights from Sierra Leone?
