Supreme Court's Robust New Session Could Define Legacy of Chief Justice

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Monday returns to work to face a rich and varied docket, including cases on First Amendment rights in the digital age, religious freedom behind bars and the status of Jerusalem.

Those cases are colorful and consequential, but there are much bigger ones on the horizon.

“I’m more excited about the next 12 months at the Supreme Court than about any Supreme Court term in its modern history,” said Thomas C. Goldstein, who argues frequently before the court and is the publisher of Scotusblog.

In the coming weeks, the justices will most likely agree to decide whether there is a constitutional right to same-sex marriage, a question they ducked in 2013. They will also soon consider whether to hear a fresh and potent challenge to the Affordable Care Act, which barely survived its last encounter with the court in 2012.

Chief Justice John Roberts destroyed his legacy when he upheld the constitutionality of ObamaCare in NFIB v. Sebelius by effectively changing the statute. (i.e., changing the term "fee" used throughout the statute by calling it a "tax".) This term will do NOTHING to change that fact. John Roberts is nothing more than a tool for the Obama Administration and the Left. He cares nothing about the U.S. Constitution, a document he swore to uphold./rwa

Roberts legacy is cowardly capitulation and criminality.

“robust new session”
“robust public health system”

The Obamanites’ Val Jar Jar must have issued a memo:
“We’re really sucking gas. Use the word ‘robust’ a lot.”

The word ‘robust’ always comes out when liberals and academics don’t know What the Fu$k they are talking about.

Roberts and his wife adopted two Irish children—who were mysteriously in South America at the time. It is illegal for non-Irish people to adopt Irish children.

There is a widely-believed theory that this was the subject of the blackmail that was used to coerce Roberts to twist himself into a pretzel in the Obamacare decision.

one thing is certain: Roberts is morally and intellectually corrupt. No snooping is needed to establish this. Just read the Obamacare decision.

The NYT certainly won’t be investigating the black mailing of the Chief Justice by Obama...who knew nothing about it, of course, because Valerie Jarrett didn’t tell him.

Yes, Roberts’ legacy is already enshrined in his last-minute, brain-damaged, craven, pusilanimous re-write rescue of the permanent socialist takeover of healthcare that is Obamacare. He will never be able to wash that stain off.

Roberts will go down in history as the one who legislated from the bench the fascist idea that American Citizens are no longer sovereign individuals, but rather indentured servants to the corporate-government entities known as insurance companies.

His legacy is overwhelmingly linked to Obamacare...he will never shake that one.

Being blackmailed over his two adopted Irish children notwithstanding, I have no doubt that Soros cemented his corruptibility with a generous "Thank You for your Services" gift after the decision.

If he indeed has any conscience at all, may this one traitorous act of his gnaw at him the rest of his miserable live.

If the court takes up homosexual marriage again, it will be for the purpose of forcing it on all 50 states.

During the cases on marriage in 2013, they specifically did not indicate a constitutional right to homosexual marriage. However, the cases did reveal that five out of nine justices are in favor of homosexual marriage.

So it’s not a stretch to think that they will take it the rest of the way, and that five of nine have decided that there is a constitutional right to homosexual marriage. Otherwise they would decline to take up the issue at all at this time. If they do take the issue up again, the fix is in and just a matter of when they announce that homosexual marriage is the law of all 50 states.
