since the 1600s; the Japanese have always, borrowed "customs" from afar..like
Christmas, Hollow's Eve, American Baseball, w/ peculiar Japanese culture adjustments.
noted: they've NOT been anxious to adopt any Muslim practices, the Nihon cultural
/familial traditions aren't as frayed as Western Civilization and other Asian countries.
