This video shows a huge herd crossing the road near Yellowstone. It’s located at Bozeman, MT. We have never seen such a big herd before. Poor little guy at the end. Luckily he finally caught up.

I guess “near” is a relative term. It’s like eighty miles from Yellowstone to Bozeman. :-)

Good for that little guy, he just learned how to do it.

A good sized herd, never seen one that large in Eastern Oregon, they’re majestic animals.

They’re a long way from Head of Elk.

The herd I once saw in Oregon had the big daddy with the huge rack trailing at the back. I thought this is status quo, with him keeping watch over his ladies ahead to keep an eye on them.

I have only seen 1 herd of Elk in my life, and it was 28 strong. I guess I was lucky.

I waited on a slightly bigger herd to cross yesterday. Not too uncommon.

Saw a herd a couple months ago not far from the house. Maybe 300. They should be back down from the high mountains soon.

There is a huge wildlife preserve south of hwy 12 in Fairfield ca

Runs down to the bay and east to the Sacramento River. There used to be an elk herd there. Also flights from Travis would fly over part of the area.

Anyone know if the elk are still there?

There are also some enormous elk herds in eastern Arizona.

Maybe the little one has a Napoleon complex.

That video is fascinating. Also, the few who waited for the little, last one also fascinated me.

There was still separation between the last few and the rest of the herd and they were looking back for him, it seems to me, to make sure that he/she was ok.

Cool. Nice that the camera was steady, too.

I have seen these up close and personal a couple of times. They have no real fear of people. They’re awesome.

I guess they will be put on the endangered species list pretty soon.
