Anticipate 1-2 years possible with no grid, worst case.

While the chart is interesting, the increase in the number of Ebola deaths will not continue at its current rate, but if it does, it means we are all dead two and a half years.

Yes. In two and a half years, we are all dead.

This is Captain Trips on steroids.

The virus is capable of boring through 12 inches of reinforced titanium plate.

No, it is rising exponentially. This has the potential for killing 1/2 of the worlds population. The 3rd world countries will be decimated.

You'll have to do it in the dark.

There are those intrepid souls who feel the calling to go toward the sound of suffering, to help, who have the skills, regardless of the risk.

It isn't for everyone, but whether they wear a FDNY uniform, the turnout gear of a volunteer fireman, fight our enemies, or pluck survivors from the wreckage of a hurricane, they feel a need to be there.

That group also includes the doctors, nurses, and others, who if they survive practicing medicine in such an outbreak (and, frankly, even if they do not) will always command my respect for having tried to help, undeterred by the difficulties or the danger.

Who knows why people feel the callings they do?...but thank Almighty God they do.

When it hits Central America we are not far behind, with our open border policy it will get here from Central America in about a month or less.

We have lots of pockets of immigrants that brought their third world attitudes with them, so I don’t think our sanitation is as good as we think it is. Even our hospitals are hard pressed to keep MRSA and other things contained.

Well, winter is coming.

Winter? Near the equator in Africa?

I was more interested in why it wouldn't continue that way, as I don't see why it would let up either. A common cold spreads exponentially too.

And I'm not convinced that it is only spreading because of the poor conditions in Africa. It can survive on a door handle from a sweaty hand, a cough, etc. Just as our better sanitary conditions don't stop the spread of a cold. In fact, a person in a small town in Liberia may travel 5 blocks walking from home to work, the market, etc. How many in the U.S. take the bus, then the train and the elevator going 20 miles in a day?

Our treatment may be better, but not if all of the hospitals and clinics are full. Emergency rooms are already crowded most times of the day. Minnesota has a bit over 10,000 hospital beds for the entire state. Add in temporary places run by local clinics, national Guard, etc. that might jump to 30,000?

Yes. If western support is cut off, eastern support will fill the lag, up to a scenario of- “let them die.” Perhaps, that has already been promoted, by some IA. Africa is a funny place.
