Meakem buys his time outright. If they would not buy into the I Heart Radio deal I seriously doubt Q&R will be willing to do that.
Anyone with a pile of cash can get themselves a weekend show on KDKA. Raja, James Winer, anyone.
Oh how the mighty have fallen!
I will have to go back and look. Thanks..
Liam is 1 and 1/2 my bad. He is out of surgery and if he naps they can come home..poor baby.
Oh so little! I hope he’s doing ok!

Sorry everybody! Slept in! No new thread today! We’ll just continue yesterday’s thread.
Looks like everybuddy blew off today’s thread.. Quinn tweeted earlier this morning .. five tweets and gone..
Good Morning All. Drinking coffee @ my desk. Waking up....I was wired driving in & now am sleepy. Glad little Liam is doing fine after his surgery.
Good morning.
Saw some late night lights at our building and thought there might be something on the Q&R front to report but it was nothing. The last Pittsburgh station we have is sounding terrible. Maybe they are trying to fix things...nah. Probably sell it before investing in repairs but who would buy it?
Hi Greg!
So glad to learn Liam is well and surgery is over...been thinking of yinz both!
You’ll laugh...but have been hearing (feeling) helicopters over the house off and on this am. Just saw on news a tractor trailer overturned on the pike (really close by). phew.... For a few minutes there I was looking for my tinfoil...
There were a couple here the last time kids were over. Very low and worried them. Found out it had something to do with the governor’s race.
This is by media critic Brian Maloney and he says some analysts wonder if talk radio is on the way out (totally) at big companies like Clear Channel and Cumulus. Someone at Clear Channel denies it
>>It was a move that sent shudders through an already-nervous radio industry: Pittsburghs WPGB-FM suddenly dumped its talk format, switching to country music. The early August change meant Americas biggest hosts would have to relocate to a small, 7000-watt AM station.Because it conflicted directly with the expected trend of moving talk AWAY from AM in favor of FM, many took it as a sign industry giant Clear Channel had made a U-turn. With digital streaming services and other emerging technologies stealing music fans from radio by the millions, talk was seen as the one format that could keep traditional broadcasting alive.
(Mentioned are the failure to develop new talent; FM talk stations going away and AM radio only appealing to older, less desirable audiences; and mention is made of a book I read in 2009, Brian Jennings’ Censorship: The Threat to Silence Talk Radio
NOTE one of the comments:BigSky1970 writes:
....Interesting that WPGB was mentioned. That station was near the top of the ratings in Steel Town, but the bottom fell out in the last ratings book, months after they dumped Quinn & Rose from their lineup. FWIW, Quinn & Rose kept that station at the top of the ratings heap in Pittsburgh and were a perfect lead in to Rush Limbaugh.
I do believe that Obama’s FCC is using the velvet hammer to discourage these companies from running Conservative Talk.
With the tacit support of many Republicans in Congress, for whom guys like Limbaugh have been a constant thorn in the side.
CC is heavily leveraged with debt. They may need to start selling off stations soon in order to remain afloat. In that situation the FCC can strangle them by slow-rolling the approvals. So they have incentive to get on the good side of Washington.
Hence the hiring of Tom Daschle’s kid to lobby for them.
Thanks PenguinM..still tired making my coffee 2nd day off..woo hoo..
WPGB was a great talker. They ruined it with the switch and I would be willing to bet they change formats by the end of the year.
Where is tweets and replies?
When I log on, I search for “Warroom” & go to Quinn’s tweet page. The page defaults to his tweets, on the top of the page, underneath the pic of his kitty, there’s the “Tweets” tab and to the right, the “Tweets & Replies” tab.
Here’s from the other day:
