NFL institutes new policy on domestic violence with 6-game ban for first offense
NBC Sports ^ | August 28, 2014 | Josh Alper

The NFL was roundly criticized for suspending Ravens running back Ray Rice two games under the personal conduct policy after Rice was charged with assaulting his then-fiance and current wife during an incident at an Atlantic City hotel in February.

The league was also criticized for being tone deaf in their response to the criticism, but it seems someone in the league office was paying attention.

The lifetime ban for a second offense is just dumb. What spouse would cut off all earning potential from her guy? Leaves her high and dry, too. That means many women will not report abuse.

Idiots.

PS Good with the six game ban.

I suspect in the vast majority of abuse cases they aren't married.

Well, thank goodness there's never any question whether domestic abuse occurred or not and every incident is caught on video.

Ugh. The NFL is not equipped to deal with this issue...nor should it be.

It’ll turn into a mess beyond all reason.

This is a situation in which if you question this policy, or how to implement and administer it, you will be said to not take domestic violence seriously. Of course we all take it seriously. But if a player has not been convicted in a court of law, is any punishment really warranted?

If I get flamed for posing the question, then that will prove my point, that this is set up that if you question or oppose the policy, that somehow you don’t take this subject seriously.

You're missing the point.

The objective here is to destroy the NFL. That has been the liberal's goal since Teddy Roosevelt was President.

Homosexuality, ex-players suing for money, telling kids not to play football, and now this. This is all part of the Left's plan.

feminist vaginas and homosexuals now running roughshod over the nfl.

by god they can’t play football but they’re gonna screw it up big time so nobody can enjoy it.

ten yard penalty, calling other player a queer. no penalty for the n-word b/c both are black players. and might i add what fancy nancy boys they all look like wearing pink - we tricked them all b/c it’s “for the cure” (wink)....not like it took a lot to fool them.

“who,s’going to be left to actually play?”

White, college graduates who would have other careers if they didn’t pay football.

The NFL shouldn't have anything to say about a player who beats their wife and drags them through hotel lobbies?

Ray Rice wasn’t even charged. He did what he did, but his fiancé and now wife moved on without legal reprisals. Somehow the NFL should be expected to get in the middle of that?

Will they wait for a conviction to impose the penalty or is an accusation good enough?

And just what has domestic violence to do with their day job? In the future a six game suspension for voting Republican, writing an OpEd in a newspaper, not inviting the queer guy to your Christmas party, etc.?

I know. The article starts off with Ray Rice, stupid juxtaposition and all that.
