Atheist Richard Dawkins’ Claim ‘Moderate Religious People’ Might Be Empowering Religious Extremists

Famed evolutionary biologist and atheist leader Richard Dawkins reportedly said this week that “nice Christians” and “nice Muslims” might actually be making the “world safe for extremists.”

...Dawkins apparently claimed that moderates inadvertently contribute to faith-fueled fundamentalism and extremism.

“It’s very important that we should not demonize ordinary, law-abiding, very decent Muslims which of course is the vast majority in this country,” Dawkins said, according to the Telegraph.

He continued, “... the difference between moderate religious people and extremist fundamentalists is that although of course it’s only a tiny minority of any sect which is ever going to get violent or horrible, there is a sense in which the moderate, nice religious people — nice Christians, nice Muslims — make the world safe for extremists.”

Dawkins went on to say that moderate religious people who are kind create the notion that “there’s something good about religion” and that there are benefits to bringing children up to embrace theological ideals. He such such a notion leads people to believe in something without having evidence or the need to offer justification.

...It is this very ideal that Dawkins took issue with, saying it could lead to fundamentalism and extremism.

“Once you teach people that that’s a legitimate reason for believing something then you as it were give a license to the extremists who say, ‘My belief is that I’m supposed to be a suicide bomber or I’m supposed to blow up buildings — it’s my faith and you can’t question that,’” he added, according to the Telegraph.

Dawkins, who said he’s sure moderates would be horrified by the notion that they are helping fuel radicalism, posited that “nevertheless it could be true.”

The atheist leader recently came under fire for tweets about “date rape,” “stranger rape,” “mild pedophilia” and “violent pedophilia.”

That minority of Muslims is estimated on the low end at 10%. That would be 10% of 1.5 billion, making it the largest army on Earth. Actually, it would probably out number all the other armies on Earth.

I must have missed something. I hadn’t realized that Christians were blowing people up and sawing off their heads.

Well, Richard, then kill all the Christians and Muslims if you think they are so dangerous. Put your money where your mouth is. I mean, that is the logical outcome of YOUR thinking.

Dawkins seems oblivious of the millions of murders committed by ATHEISTS in the last 100 years.

Dawkins is such a tool, and he doesn't even know it. That's the tragic part of it. Nice effort at moral equivalence Dawkins. Sorry, no sale.

When Christians start sawing off the heads of children and putting pictures up on YouTube, then we'll talk. Make no mistake, this attempt at moral equivalence is deliberate in Dawkin’s effort to marginalize Christians.

“It’s very important that we should not demonize ordinary, law-abiding, very decent Muslims which of course is the vast majority in this country,”

That is only because Muslims are still a tiny minority in the US. Look at the countries that have a higher percentage of Muslims and you will see them DEMANDING that Islam be the ONLY religion allowed.

These “atheists” and leftist humanists in general aren’t opposed to “religion”,

they’re opposed to Christ.

And that’s the long and short of it.

Dawkins, the evangelical atheist. He’s every bit as full of it as the ISIL. I can see him as the Khalifah if disbelief.

They are refusing to pay for abortions. To a liberal, that’s worse.

As with everything liberal, he who controls the meaning of words and phrases controls the outcome of the debate.

In this case, what exactly is “extremist fundamentalist” in a) the Christian context; b) in the Muslim context?

Based on my study both of Christianity and Islam, it is clear that the more deeply a Muslim understands and internalizes his religion, the easier it is for him to accept its commands with respect to subjugating those who refuse to accept it. This in fact is the danger posed by the Sayyid Qutb, who was Islamic theorist, author and leading member of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood.

Our news at this very moment contains stories of how very dedicated Muslims are raping women in Iraq and taking them as sex slaves, that is after killing the men in the village who refuse to accept their version of Islam.

Contrast this to Christianity, where the more intensely a person internalizes the teachings of Jesus, the more he seeks to be at peace with his fellow man.

Being familiar with Primitive Christianity, when a person is determined to practice the faith that Jesus delivered to His disciples, he understands that he cannot convert a person by force or guile. Conversion and accepting the priceless free gift of eternal life can only be done through voluntary and full disclosure. Forcing someone to “convert, submit or die” as Islam is imposed, would violate every principle of the Christian faith, and thus any expression of conversion would be void. For Muslims, all it takes is the mere utterance of the words and a person is considered a Muslim for life, and it a capital offence to recant or attempt to leave that faith.

Dawkins embarrsses himself by how he views religion.

Moderate atheists might be empowering atheist extremists. Face it: atheists are the intellectually brilliant who have the proof of a negative.
