Sad. It means the end of summer around here.
Temperatures should be good for an August race. Rain forecast but temps should be in the mid 70s.

We were noticing a bit of a nip in the air in the evenings.
global winter!
It was 50 degrees here last night.
They’re putting up windmill signs all around the track and area.
1st. wow. That’s a, un, first.
Have not heard whether Tony will race this weekend. I know his name has been entered, but .
I personally think, and its the result of the tragic incident, that he shouldn’t race again until the investigation is complete and he is cleared of possible negligent homicide/vehicular manslaughter charges. Yes, its tough but we are talking loss of life her. I hope Tony understands it’s for the good of the sport and to show respect to the Ward family. It’d be a nasty black eye to everyone involved to race this weekend and then face some serious charges next week.
Tony still uncertain about Michigan:
Well stated.
Here's what I think I've gleaned:
(1) the Chase qualifiers are vying for entry into the season's championship race(s) and, no doubt, some hefty tangible rewards
(2) race performance points accumulate year-long to determine the twelve (?) qualifiers
(3) even though few actually qualify, other racers get to race alongside them in the final races.
Am I sorta close? Plus, what determines the actual Chase champion? Total Points, or order of finish in a certain race, or what exactly?
I'd appreciate anyone taking a moment to enlighten me briefly.
Jayski.com has all you’ll ever want to know about Nascar.

But I'm guessing it's not just those final four running in the final race--it's a full field.
Thanks. Just my opinion. I do need to start previewing my posts for spelling; tubebender would not approve..
Driver dies on a race??? It’s not the first time
http://www.ask.com/wiki/Driver_deaths_in_motorsport
Yes a full field runs at each race. The cars not in the chase are still racing for the weekly purse which is good money, for points fund money paid out at the end of the year, and to get their sponsors on tv and in front of the spectators.
I read that the lowest payout in 2013 for a non chase team that ran all the chase races was $709,000.
Wow. Had no idea. And that’s just the “A’s”.
If you read motorsports history, what’s scary is the number of spectators killed in the old days.
Crowd control was non-existent.
