From the link: "The dose-response relations between running, as well as the change in running behaviors over time, and mortality remain uncertain."

The human body was precision engineered for walking long distances while carrying a weapon. Running is what humans do when they forget their weapon.

Running is ridiculous for people who have hip, knee, or ankle problems. Just walk. As fast as comfortable. Half an hour a day three or four days a week. Helps a lot with blood pressure. And stop eating salt. That really cures blood pressure problems.

LOL! Got it in one.

I've got plenty of real work to do to keep up my exercise, I don't need to invent pretend work to fool my body.

Morally superior people are compelled to put me in my place.

You should let them, so that I might be enlightened by their moral superiority. (snerk!)

Besides, I've got elephant hide.

walking or will an elliptical do?

Dang...gotta go look up what an "elliptical" is (I thought that was the incision a preggers womyn gets in the muffin when the baby's too big....).

Seriesly, tho....the doc has her walking for the extended period to keep the blood pumping through the arteries to keep 'em clear and clean.

Bicycling doesn't cut it, because that activity focuses on the upper leg muscles....If you have "PAD", you have to focus on below-the-knee calf blood pumping.

Blessing #3 will be one next month, and I just turned 35. I’ve found that my biggest issue is muscle mass. Kettlebells enable me to build up my lost muscle mass (very bad pregnancy and nursing experience) plus get the cardio out of the way. Nursing meant that my ligaments ( thanks hormones!) just wouldn’t cooperate with running.
