With 148 counties out of 169 reporting, WRDW-TV in Augusta, GA has called this very, very close primary runoff for Perdue, a political "newcomer", his word. Details:
Jack Kingston 234,238 votes 49%This has been a particularly nasty campaign.David Perdue 242,137 votes 51%
Nope he said relier in the day he would support the winner. I am glad he was defeated. I am so tired of the US Chamber of Crony Capitalism and their lies and distortions. They backed Kingston and ran scurrilous ads throughout this campaign. The truth is Kingston has been in DC too long. He was part of the ear mark problem that had spending going wild under Bush. He is as slimy as they come and he is nothing more than a career politician. Twenty two years is about twenty too many in my view.
Isn’t Perdue the weaker candidate and likely to loose to Mrs. Nunn ___.
The GOP has so pissed off conservatives that the Dims are going to maintain their Senate majority by default.
Dunno if he is “likely” to loose but yes, he is much weaker and right now, odds are slightly in her favor.
The GOP in this case is just average voters too uninformed to select nominees.
I live in Aiken County, SC which is just across the Savannah River from Augusta, GA, so my view does not count.
However I am glad Perdue won. Now, assuming he wins in Nov which will not be easy, if he will just keep all the promises he made in his radio ads when he gets to DC. And not become another slimy GOPe traitor.
Quite frankly, I think you are correct. There was a time I thought the GOP would take the Senate. Not any more. What amazes me the most is ... I really don’t care.
How did Hice do?
I’m almost to the point I don’t want them to. They’d become even more feckless.
I haven’t paid attention to this one, who was the GOPe guy?
She's not Mrs. Nunn. She's Mrs. Martin. Her husband's a "Stay at home dad".
No offense but that sounds like a Rove comment.
If she’s identified as Nunn regardless of her married name she’ll probably beat either one. GA is as bad as here in TN. Can’t keep the wussies out.
Glad Purdue won - in the end, he ran as the Anti-Amnesty candidate and that put him over the top.
...that can only BE GOOD for this country.

Well, that turned out great. The establishment asshats worked their butts off tearing down all the decent candidates to get Kingston in and he ends up losing to Perdue... a bad choice who will likely cost us the seat. Great job, Karl Rove1
Loss is possible, but the fault lay with the Establishment for pulling a Mississippi on us and against our candidates and rejecting conservatism outright, for years now.
They have chosen to be rid of us, saddle too many states with open primaries and lit a match to the Republican platform. Basically, the Republican Party doesn’t care if they miss the Senate this cycle.
The Republican Party are not “us” any more, but gone rogue, preferring the status quo as, UniParty.
Uniparty just about sums it up
My hope too but at least I won’t be sitting out and watching Nunn win.
‘Kingston ran with the endorsement and more than $2.3 million in advertising support from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a titan of the Washington establishment.’
Sorry about your 23+ million dollars down the drain, CoC. Maybe if you’d unbent a little, & spent 24+ million, you could have pulled it off.
CoC hates Perdue. He walked out of what was supposed to be a one hr meeting w them after 10 minutes. So they threw everything including the kitchen sink into defeating him. Way to tick him off, CoC; if he wins in Nov, you are up the creek.
I don’t get this ‘weakest candidate’ idea. Against Nunn, Perdue polled better than Kingston.
