One of the female Leutenants made a comment about how she and her girlfriend had intended to go to Paris.
So even as a reference it was somewhat ambiguous. I think that I was more startled by my automatic reaction that it was a gay ref than anything else. Shows how acclimated society is (by intent) to immediately read a comment like that as gay when there are other options.
Like with the “and another reason” by Gobber in How to Train Your Dragon 2; considering how many body parts the guy is missing it could also just be interpreted that his man parts are wherever his arm, leg, tooth, etc are.
They already admitted that was a gay reference.
The VA for Gobber - Craig Ferguson - admitted that he ad-libbed the line, and the director - Dean DeBlois, who is openly homosexual - decided to throw it in.

...absolutely...just yesterday I was at a Target store, and two guys walked past me, one of them pushing a baby stroller...abundantly possible that the one is the father and the other one simply a friend or neighbor...but I said under my breath ‘tell me those guys aren’t gay...’
...why should my first reaction be so illogical...well, because our culture deems it beneficial to sew sexual confusion...
