A Baltimore cop allegedly slit the throat of a dog that officers had under control.

Jeffrey Bolger, 49, was booked on felony animal cruelty charges Wednesday, his department said.

"I'm going to (expletive) gut this thing," he said before killing the pup, according to charging documents.

They are shocked by his actions.

Police Deputy Commissioner Dean Palmere, who called the killing "outrageous and unacceptable," said the incident is under investigation.

Nala's owner, Sarah Gossard, explained that her pet somehow escaped from her backyard that morning and was found by a nearby resident, Sandy Fleischer, a few blocks away.

His colleagues say Nala, the 7-year-old Shar-Pei, was restrained on a dog-control pole and posed absolutely no threat to Bolger on Saturday, the Baltimore Sun reported.

I’m pretty sure this qualifies as mentally ill and, thus, is a disqualifier for ever owning a firearm again.

Do this to a baby, and the Democrats will give you a speaking slot at their convention of freaks

Also, Bolger looks like a lib

He’s a union member, a cop, and comes from a blue state. Libs will ignore this.

Trouble is, he seems to be pretty quick with a knife...

I’m more concerned with this guy carrying a badge than a gun or a knife frankly. Hopefully the right to carry a badge goes away with the right to carry a firearm. I know that’s how it worked out for soldiers caught up in the Lautenburg amendment.

From the article: "She was just the sweetest dog and would never hurt anyone," Gossard told WBAL. "She was just scared that day, and through all of those events — being scared and lost, thirsty, hungry — yes, I'm very sure that she bit someone...." /END QUOTE FROM ARTICLE

So which is it, owner says she would never bite anyone yet in the same breath said "Yes,.... she bit someone".

I understand the urge to paint police as thugs, but at least be honest enough to put in the parts you quote the money line of the animal bit someone.

Why couldn’t he just shoot it like a normal cop?

the cop slit the dog’s throat as it was restrained and was condemned by his own department. There’s no defense here.

Pretty unbelievable.

I wonder if police departments make any effort to screen out sadists in the hiring process.

There are plenty of good cops, but the bad ones -- !

All dogs are capable of biting, if they are scared or under stress. The question becomes was that bite a nip or a mauling?

From the neighbor who was nipped/bit....

"Fleischer says the dog bit her out of fear, but blamed herself for touching Nala"

From another source...

"The dog was more scared of not knowing where it was and being thirsty and disoriented. The dog bit me out of fear because I tried to touch it, which was my fault," Fleischer told...

Another source...

“Police were called after she nipped at a woman trying to read her tags.”

and another...

“A woman later saw Nala and tried to catch the dog, but it bit her, wounding the woman superficially, Palmere said.” ( Police Deputy Commissioner Dean Palmere)
