Happy Mother's Day! In honor of the holiday today, today's feature is Frank Capra's 1933 version of the Damon Runyon Cinderella tale where Dave the Dude and the other guys and dolls from Broadway help Apple Annie the peddler impress her convent educated daughter and Spanish count fiance when they come over from Europe for a visit. If the story sounds familiar it was also the basis for Capra's 1961 film "Pocketful of Miracles" with Glenn Ford and Ann-Margret(in her screen debut).
