DETROIT, MI -- An off-duty Detroit police officer shot a suspected robber in the face Saturday afternoon.
Detroit Police Sgt. Michael Woody says the officer was working a second job at a pharmacy located at 3611 Conant in Detroit. He is not a security officer for the store. While outside talking on his cell phone about 12:30 p.m. Woody said the suspect approached and demanded the officer's phone.
When he refused, the suspect produced a "nickel-plated revolver and the officer was able to knock the gun away, which gave him time" to run into the store, Woody said..
The suspect tried to chase the officer and was attempting to open the door and fire but the gun jammed. The officer retrieved his gun and shot the suspect once in the face.
The suspect is listed in serious condition but expected to survive, Woody said Saturday afternoon.
Off duty cop putting down a thief this time.
so he knew the gun was jammed when he shot him???
Well it sure works a hell of a lot better than waiting till he gets it to fire again.
“The suspect was taken to the hospital but his condition is unknown at this time.”
I think is condition is probably unrecognizable.
Sounds like the off duty cop needs to get himself a .45
Hmm. Suddenly, I see warning lights. May be just a reflex thought but reading the officer's statement that, “the suspect produced a “nickel-plated revolver” I started wondering. I am not saying it is impossible, but it sure is rare that a revolver “jams”.
Throw down?
From the way the witness talks its one vicious kid.
So will getting shot in the face make him as smart as the hypocrite Gabby Gifford’s or as dumb as hypocrite Gabby Gifford’s?
Lets face it, the man needs to put a smile on and move forward to his future as a prison whore.
“The suspect tried to chase the officer and was attempting to open the door and fire but the gun jammed.”
A revolver jamming? I’m not an expert of firearms, but I would imagine the weapon was damaged, very dirty, or loaded with some very old, poor quality ammo (or maybe the wrong ammo type) for that to happen.
Again, not an expert on these things, so I could be 100% wrong (and I often am, LOL) about this.
So far there have been 13 justifiable homicides in Detroit this year and I’m guessing 3 times as many defensive shootings not resulting in death.
I have on two occasions hd brand new Remington .38 specials jam because the rim of the casing was slightly too thick, jamming between the cylinder and the frame.
So I never ever shoot Remington .38s.
The revolver was a S&W model 10.
“Can you hear me now?”
I’d say the lesson here is there’s nothing more worthless than a gun that doesn’t shoot... except for the dirt bag who thinks he can rob a store with it.
