Latin. adverb

all other things being equal.

Origin: cēterus (“the other”) + paribus ( equal)
Literally meaning “with other [things] being equal” or “other things being equal”. Ceteris Paribus was characterized by Sir Alfred Marshall who was one of the most influential economists of his time and is known as one of the founders of economics.

To do so, everything but the policy in question must be held constant so as not to taint the outcome. For example, a new FOX News Poll asks whether, ceteris paribus, a politician’s support for Obamacare would make voters more or less likely to support him or her.

wow. and i thought i was anti-pop culture! your kids were older and so i guess it’s not surprising. i studiously avoided it for years, but started reading them when the last book came out. xsbaby is dyslexic and LD, and that book series turned her into a reader. she read every last book, and multiple times.
