HARTFORD — The city celebrated the UConn men's and women's basketball teams' national championships Sunday with a victory parade through downtown, and it was one of the biggest parties Hartford has ever seen.

An estimated 200,000 people lined the streets as blue and white confetti showered them while they cheered two teams and two trophies. After the parade, players, coaches and dignitaries addressed the crowd in a rally outside the Capitol.

I wonder how many in CT would parade for something actually important like protesting CT gun ban. Uconn’s winning basketball doesn’t affect anyone’s lives (except the team’s own and their families, and possibly the athletics department’s fund raising ability.) The ban has far reaching implications in movingg an already tyrannical police state closer to absolute despotism, but instead 200,000 idiots got all worked up over college sports.

Imagine if they were so passionate about freedom

The spirit of 1776, which seems to be severely lacking in today's USA. And almost totally lacking in the northeast.

I agree. Just a bunch of proles celebrating what? Bread and circus . Don’t look at the price of meat, gas, and taxes.... Just sit on your asses with your faces glued to the tv and hope the man leaves you enough money to buy beer, a game jersey, tickets to sporting events and cable tv ...... To watch more sporting events, drafts, scouting reports and bullsh@t.

Go burn some sofas and cars to celebrate winning. Bunch of sheep.

The Connecticut TEA Party protests were some of the biggest in the country.

I think something like 93% of Connecticut gun owners are
not going to comply with the recent gun grab effort.

Yes, Connecticut is full of libs, but its conservatives, although outnumbered, are some of the strongest in the country.

Give credit where it is due. Its tough living behind enemy lines.

Too funny, y’all got everything perfected down there in Georgia so you have plenty of time to critique what others are doing with their time?

Looking for GA's "assault weapon" ban. Not finding it.

UConn has 200,000 students? Who’d have thought it.

Just saying that you shouldn’t give conservatives a hard time because were surrounded by libs and RINOs. We have a hard enough time of things without being criticized by our own kind.

Was hoping that those in more conservative parts of the country would understand that even in deep blue Connecticut, about a fifth of the population is true conservative.

If you can’t help, then it is best that you shut the hell up.

Get over yourself. If you think that the presence of a few conservatives in the nut state somehow invalidates criticism of what goes on there you've got your head in a dark place. No one was criticising conservatives, but rather the nature of the populace in the northeast in general. Which is pretty much government loving slave wannabes.

Gun owners in CT are sticking necks on the line. And you’re feeding us crap.

Maybe you should get over yourself. Atlanta is just as liberal as Hartford, only its five times as big.

In related news did anyone hear the rumor that today’s WNBA draft was being handled by Amazon.com?

For what it’s worth, there were zero arrests during or after the parade.

on campus after the victory, there were around 35 arrests for drunkeness and disturbing the peace with very little property damage.

Not quite 200,000. That rally was just last week.
