He had the pain while the hand was still attached. The sad part is he may have had relief with simple physical therapy.
I had moderate to severe pain in both hands and ended up getting surgery on the nerves. The relief was temporary. Later, an exercise physiologist showed me some stretching exercises; the results are amazing.
