What caused the destruction of families and the cultural shift driving women from the home and into the work force in the first place?
What were women paid during the Roman Empire? It is only with the advent of Judaism and Christianity that people were considered to have rights granted by G_d, rather than by whomever was ruling.
You've been watching too much alphabet soup media. When you factor in years of experience in paying jobs and education, pay for women is competitive with men. It's often higher.
