Maybe we ought to figure out who this fake is and out him. Maybe someone who lives nearby this school ought to go and just point and laugh, rather than insulting him. No law against pointing and laughing, or telling passers-by that he’s a fraud. The point is to excite contempt for him rather than to make him seem like a victim.

Like the commenter said - if he were walking around in uniform with a badge and telling everyone he was a cop would that be cool with San Joaquin Delta College?

If he tried that with Hells Angels colors, he’d be walking around with a ball-peen hammer sticking out of the top of his head.

We had a pretty robust debate here on the Stolen Valor Act when United States v. Alvarez went to the SCOTUS in 2011. Seems you have freedom of speech to wear or claim status you never earned, but those who did have no freedom of speech when they call you out on it...

That the REAL Vet gets arrested really ticks me off.

I am one that won’t wear a hat or shirt that promotes a Ship or Unit I didn’t serve on or in.

Not so many years ago ‘we’ could say lets go with a jury trial NOW and this foolishness would have been stopped.

More so in that era NO self respecting Police would have arrested the REAL DEAL and maybe would have taken the wannabee in to see if everything was in proper order.

Course then a good number of Police were Vets and while maybe not downright disregarding another Vet, at least they would give you a ‘fair shake’ if you ‘respected their new uniform’.

These misfit robotons in there nowadays, with tests etc geared to the weakest of the lot, allows a lot of not so desirable people in AND they have to be careful what they ‘wash them out for’.

Ok, I know it was along time ago (1970) but I seem to remember being told when I was DROS’d that I had twenty-four hours and after that I was not allowed to wear my uniform again. Something change?

You can be arrested for verbal assault?

Well girls. Something to think about, huh?

Doesn’t look like it would apply in this case but a good test of whether a person is EOD or not is to start a snowball fight with them. If they don’t put rocks in the snowballs, then they’re not EOD.

I sort of feel sorry for the guy. He looks like he might be a bit off mentally.

I remember a guy many years ago who claimed he had many pro offers as a pitcher. The first day our camp team practiced I noticed he did indeed look like he knew what he was doing at 3rd base. It only took a few minutes to realize he was no good at all. He had all the right moves except he couldn’t field or throw.

He had a letter jacket and I noticed it had MGR on the letter. Everyone knew that meant “manager” but he claimed it stood for “most games recorded”.

For what its worth, didnt see anything in the video that should have led to an arrest. And after being arrested, the two cops both looked scared. That being said, I’d have given the poser 2 choices...take it off, or I’ll remove it for you.

“The police also told KXTV that it is not illegal to wear a uniform as long as the person wearing it is not trying to reap any benefits.”

Right. But let some fraud wear their police officer’s uniform! That would be quite a different story altogether.

Pretty poorly written article ...

Second video isn’t working.

The guy wearing the uniform probably just thought it looked cool. Ignorant, not malicious.

The guy calling him out, of course, should not have been arrested. The cop who arrested him needs a (metaphorical) beat-down.
