Weather forecast models such as the ECMWF and NCEP, both of which have had good track records this year in identifying polar vortex outbreaks in advance, are now forecasting a massive cold blast for the beginning of spring.

Geese flew south from Northwest in September rather than December. Anyone who didn’t buy a magic parka deserves to be cold.
It was 75 degrees, with a nice on-shore Pacific breeze today in S. CA...
So what would a mild winter be evidence of then?
I have lived here before the days of ice, and of course this is why I'm so concerned.
Tomorrow’s forcast for TX is the upper 80s.
Imagine the fleas, mosquitoes and other blood sucking bugs. I wouldn't have lasted long.
That's for sure, considering our planet is five billion years old, give or take.
