A flag and 15 yards for a slur

Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words will never hurt me. Or so we once thought.

America's schoolyards were tough places to play in the old days, where kids settled their arguments with skinned knuckles, bloody noses and a minimum of grown-up interference. But that was when the well-prepared scholar arrived for the first day of school with a Big Chief tablet, a clutch of Eberhard Faber No. 2 pencils, a bag lunch (if he could avoid the lunchroom), and an apple for the teacher. Now it's against the law to bribe a teacher, an iPad mini has replaced the Big Chief and most important of all, every kid needs his lawyer.

This latest proposed edict of Roger Goodell is just another glaring example of the FACT that he needs to be fired as commissioner of the NFL.

Roger Goodell is ruining the Great American Sport and needs to go.

I really want to know if the black players will also be subject to this rule.

On paper, they will.

In practice, we'll see which lily white linesman or referee has the stones to toss the flag when a Charles Woodson or Terrell Suggs utters the super nasty no-no word. I won't hold my breath.

“Faggot” means the same thing as “fagot,” but it seems to be the preferred spelling in America.

“Faggot” means the same thing as “fagot,”

It doesn't, in the context in which the plane was named. The NATO nomenclature was "F" for role as a fighter and two syllables for a jet aircraft.

From everything I have read on the subject, the name "Fagot" for the MIG-15 has nothing to do with homosexuality, and I have never seen the plane referred to with two "g"s in its code name.

But frankly, there are plenty of other ways we can tweak the left.

When are we going to do something about quarterbacks making unapproved references to Nebraska cities? It always happens just before an interception. Now that’s the REALLY offensive language.

“Seems like ever since Baraq came on the scene, the national discussion is constantly about race. Everything is about race”.

And it’s always the “first black president”. Criticize anything about him and you’re a racist. What I want to know is why is he called, 1000 times a day on TV, the “first black president”. If his race is going to be mentioned (and I don’t know why it should be), why is he never called what he is, the nation’s first “bi-racial” president, or “mullato” president.

When this empty-suited Marxist was running for president he constantly talked about his WHITE mother and his WHITE grandparents. He didn’t want to be referred to as a black man because he said he was bi-racial (which he certainly is).

The minute this lying race-baiter becomes president it’s black this and black that, and you’re a racist if you criticize him in any way, shape or form. His white mother and white grandparents were thrown under the bus the minute he said his oath of office.

If this nothing was not completely destroying the country as the US president, he would be teaming up with Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to stir up racial trouble all over the country. Anyone ever saw all the pictures of all the blondes this arrogant creep ran around with him when he lived in Hawaii. Back then he was “white”. He never talked to a black woman till he married his current wife, and that was for obvious reasons. He wanted to play the race card as the way to get into politics and needed a black wife. The nation’s first bi-racial (not black) president makes me sick to my stomach and has destroyed the country that thousands fought and died for all over the world. It will never be the same.

I occasionally hear references to "MiG-15's" in San Francisco, West Hollywood, Silverlake, etc., places where one doesn't see too many North Korean fighter planes. Wonder why? The Urban Dictionary provides a clue.

MLB isn’t dominated by black athletes like NBA or NFL. There are less US blacks playing pro baseball now than in the 70s.

Replaced by black hispanics, who grew up playing baseball 12 months out of the year.

Most Hispanics playing aren’t black, they are Latino.

In any case, in 2012 the MLB was 63.9% white. That’s up from the all time low of 60.3% in 2004. In 2013 the NFL was 29.26% white. In 2012, 78% of all professional basketball players were US blacks.

“Most Hispanics playing aren’t black, they are Latino”

You have black hispanics and you have black latinos. You have white hispanics and white latinos. I consider them one in the same. The vast majority of latino/hispanic baseball players are of black ancestry. So that means one thing, even in Latin American countries the blacks are better at sports than the population of European ancestry. You can also watch the Summer Olympics. All sprint races are dominated by black athletes. All endurance races, once dominated by white athletes, are now dominated by black Africans. All sports that require jumping and running are dominated by black athletes. Weight lifting, I think, is probably still mostly of European stock.

Look, if the MLB is 60+% white then blacks aren’t dominating that sport no matter how you want to define them. Not because of any lack of talent, skill, smarts, or athletic ability, but because the nature of the baseball skill set generally allows more competition from whites, Asians and non black hispanolatinoblackwhite whatevers. The NBA and NFL skill set and physical requirements generally allows less competition from those others, usually on a purely physical level. Also, the skill set for baseball at the major league level usually requires very frequent repetition at a very young age, usually from fathers.

I never meant to say that MLB was dominated by black athletes. But the vast majority of the black players in baseball are hispanic/latino. I agree with you about the skill set in baseball allowing for more white players. Not so much in basketball and football, where its who can run the fastest and jump the highest. And, let’s not forget that black kids grow up idolizing ball players instead of their fathers. They all think they can make it to the NBA. And I think I read somewhere where you have a better chance of walking on the moon than you do making the NBA.

Coming soon to the NFL:

"Ranger Right! Blue 68! Alert! 72 is the Mike.... Homo, hah! Homo, hah!! Hut hut hut!!!"

"Wait... there's a flag on the play..."

"Taunting... Number 18... fifteen yards... remains... first down..."

I think part of the reason that so many bullpens are full of tall athletic white lanky kids throwing 95+ in recent years is that they have started choosing baseball instead of trying to compete with tall athletic black lanky guys at younger and younger ages in basketball.

You are right about the physical requirements in football and basketball. The great equalizer in baseball is hitting a round ball fair with a round bat, especially when it’s 90+ and your timing is messed up with slower breaking balls and change ups. If you can do that, some of the other more physical skills that might be lacking don’t matter as much.

Imagine the fines and other penalties an announcer could incur if he were to mispeak the words “a flag on the play” over live television...not to mention the death threats..
