I feel like this stuff is getting out of control and it seems to be happening in all areas of the country and at all levels of enforcement.
I tell you, this is an issue that can unite left, right and middle.
It is unacceptable that law enforcement is acting as if the general public are a bunch of criminals who should be summarily arrested, brutalized or killed.

jogging in her toe shoes and sporting headphones.Jogging while wearing headphones is pretty stupid. She probably needed the education she just got.

Hey, if I could open carry and handcuff pretty girls, I'd get lots of dates, too.
It's frowned on, though, if you try that free-lance.

Jogging while wearing headphones is pretty stupid. She probably needed the education she just got. We need to create new laws with stiff civil and criminal penalties and fines for wearing headphones in public...Good thinking.
It's just not safe!!
A little time in the cage will teach her.

I usually ran with headphones, sometimes seven days a week. Running miles a day can be difficult without headphones.

And on a subconscious level that may have played a part. A little revenge.
They had set up a jaywalking sting operation (no, really) and she apparently jaywalked. She had her earphones on and didn’t hear them, so they grabbed her arm. She pulled away in surprise. What woman wouldn’t?
I’m sure they started the “Who are you?” bullying before informing her why they grabbed her. I hope she sues Austin into oblivion.

It’s not illegal to be stupid.
But it is illegal for cops to violate the rights of citizens under color of law.

The last time I looked at the relevant law, if a person is suspected of a crime (jaywalking in this case?) or a witness to a crime, they are required to ID here in Texas. Simple failure to provide ID absent these two conditions is not a crime.
Yet people get thrown into the slammer all of the time for it.
