One possibility is to head to the major supermarkets in the heavily Jewish neighborhoods right before Passover. Coke sells a ‘Kosher for Passover’ Coke made with real sugar. They used to be in 2 liter bottles with a special yellow cap. I live in a more muslim area now where these aren’t available, and with the Pepsis available, I haven’t made a pilgrimage to the eruv to look for Coke for a good while.
That’s some shack!
At least they kept the word “God” in it.
Just make sure to use cash.
Now an immigrant to the US, especially a Spanish speaking one, could live their whole life here and never learn a word of English.
Thanks to cutting Sugar and HFCS out of my diet, I lost 40 lbs and 4 inches in my waist.
Watch the Video. It is 90 minutes long, but will change your life. We wrongly took fat out of foods, and replaced it with sugar because food without fat tastes like cardboard. Processed foods contain so much sugar.
If the goal of this commercial was to get me to stop buying Coke it has succeeded.
Coke is really doubling down. I was on Youtube last night and the ad came up about a dozen time.
I don’t drink coke. They can do what they want, but I hate multiculturalism. Why could the many faces not have spoken English, even if in accents?
It was a PITA at first reading label after label. Even pickles contain yellow coloring. Occasionally if I absolutely can't find anything else, I'll buy a product if it has "2% or less of the following...." I started to get aggravated when I saw how hard it was to find food not created in a laboratory.
I don't care about "organic," or "cage free," or any of that stuff. I just want my food to be, well, food.
About two to three weeks after the switch, I felt better overall. I had more energy and stopped getting lethargic in the late afternoon.
I haven't been sick, not even a cold or sniffles, since then.
I guess I see the Starbucks issue and Coke as totally different. I do not go to Starbucks, but I liked the Coke commercial. Many of the comments here and on other sites are tinged with the hint of prejudice or even hatred toward immigrants. I too want immigrants to come to this country and become culturally “American”. I have seen many older immigrants struggle to learn English, but I see their children becoming the Valedictorians of my hometown’s school. Believe me...they know English and Math and Science. My husband is bilingual, Spanish and English. His parent’s were both bilingual. An uninformed person would assume that he or his parents were immigrants to the United States. They were not. His grandparents were not. His great-grandparents were not (Except for the one who came from England). Just because someone speaks Spanish, or Vietnamese, or Hindi does not mean that they are a recent immigrant. It may mean that they celebrate their mixed heritage. My husband’s father proudly served in the Pacific in World War II and was permanently disabled. My husband is a proud American. I am tired of people thinking that he is less of an American because he is Hispanic and they assume he is an immigrant. Just because someone can and does speak several languages does not make them anti-American. The song speaks to the diversity of the United States of America.
But deliberately sticking your thumb in consumers eyes may not help your bottom line. At least in the US.
Coke (the soda) sales are flat in America. Their growth markets are over seas so they don’t give a crap about offending American consumers..
The ad didn’t particularly upset me.
As I noted before, at least the word “God” was kept in.
I am all for legal immigration, and I believe in the concept of the “Melting Pot” where people meld into society.
Unfortunately, liberals have advocated the “Tossed Salad” and multi-culturalism, which a nation cannot survive in the long run.
“I always buy the store brand of soda”.
I do as well unless there was a really good sale. That being said, I have found several store brands to be quite good. I guess for the real soda lover, it wouldn’t be. I can get a 2 liter for .69 cents on sale and they have the cola, diet cola, root beer etc.. flavors.
One of my all time favorite movies! Schlemmerrrrrr!!!!
I finally saw the ad. It's disconcerting. A much better message to send to Americans in the US legally would be to have their patronizingly obvious immigrants singing American the Beautiful in English.
I'm troubled that a major corporation would pander to invaders who are in the US. Anyone here legally would be striving to learn English.
Never did like Coke. To me it was like carbonated battery acid. I was always a Pepsi drinker.
Heh, I had forgotten about that movie. It was hilarious.
One, Two, Three.
That was one of the nicest ads of the Super Bowl. What did people think was wrong with it?
