Super Bowls seem to be either nail-biters with tit-for-tat scoring or blow-outs where one team just runs away with it.
I actually prefer the first type.
The better explanation for Denver’s loss is that Seattle outplayed them, with the league’s best defense shutting down Denver’s offense.
Most people fail to understand the most fundamental principle of football: dominating the line of scrimmage. A dominating offensive and defensive line “trumps” a superstar quarterback everytime.
The first play sort of sealed the deal.

That first play would have been just a bump in the road for Manning and recovered easily.
Maybe next year will be without Manning and I don’t think he will be looking around for another team he could take to the super Bowl.
He was gracious when he was replaced as quaterback before, this time it will be his call and retire from a game that has turned devolved into the status of the WWE.
The very first play was bad for Denver and it all went downhill from there.
I was cheering for the Broncos, so naturally I was disappointed. And it was obvious by the middle of the second quarter that they were not even trying.
The Seahawks, on the other hand, played the entire game as if they were coming from behind.
This isn’t the first lopsided loss Denver has suffered at the Superbowl. ...For the past few weeks the hype has all been about Manning and Denver’s offense, but mostly Manning, like his experience and mastery of the game was more than enough to beat the Seahawks. In a way, Richard Sherman did the Seahawks a favor by drawing all the media hype to him. For the better part of the pre-Superbowl fiasco, Wilson was little more than an afterthought. During media week Marshawn Lynch got got all the attention for not talking. There was no hyped up pressure on the team. All they had to do was focus, and show up with their best game, and they did.
Who cares?

Usually when I see an article I don’t care about, I skip past it.
No offense, but Peyton Manning just isn’t a big game QB. He has proved that in both college and the NFL. Hands down he’s probably the greatest regular season QB to ever play the game, but in crunch time he simply disappears.
11-12 in his post season career
Of those 12 losses 7 are 1 and done.
During his 2006-2007 Super Bowl post season he had 3 TDs to 7 INTs. I’m still not sure how he won the Super Bowl MVP that game as he put in a fairly pedestrian performance goin 25 of 39 for 243 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT. The Colts won that game because they took the air out of the ball in the 2nd half and pound the Bears with the run. Eventually Sexy Rexy sealed the deal with a 51 yard pick six when the Bears were driving in the 4th quarter.
Heck it took Manning leaving for the Tennessee Volunteers and QB Tee Martin to get over the Florida Gators bugaboo which plagued them during the Manning years. The won the National Championship that year.
So no, none of this shocks me. Manning is so hung up on his legacy and quest for a 2nd Super Bowl ring to validate his greatness that I have no doubt it eventually grated on his teammates. They are all professionals... this game was kind of important to them too.
The Seahawks played like Tea Partiers and Denver played like the GOPe.
The greatest irony of last night’s game was that I saw more of Tim Tebow than I did of Peyton Manning......................
Seattle dominated on every aspect of the game. Not just the line of scrimmage. Although, it is the most important. However, special teams scored a touchdown and played great too. The only thing Denver did well was stop the run up the middle in the first half. They contained Lynch.
Lastly, Peyton Manning once again gave us another poor post season performance that his record has shown many times before. When he is under pressure he makes bad passing decisions. The Seattle defensive line forced him to make mistakes.
In the AFC game the Pats put absolutely no pressure on Manning and he could sit back and pick them apart.
When the BIG game is on the line, I would take Eli every time. Of course, I would take Brady over Eli too.
I was having deja vu - it felt like we were watching that game all over again.

All the hype the last two weeks was about Manning and Denver’s great offense.
What the Super Bowl record almost always shows us over and over again is DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS. Once again this held true.
Twice Baltimore won because of their defense. Tampa Bay won because of their defense. The Pats first win was because of their defensive secondary and linebackers were the best in the league. The Pats stopped the high scoring Rams offense. The Bills lost four Super Bowls in a row, but had the best offense in all four of those years.
More often than not the team with the best defense wins the Super Bowl. Yet, almost all the attention is given to these high scoring offenses. It is kind of like the old golf saying: drive for show, put for dough.
When I saw the score my first thought was, I wonder what the spread in Vegas was?
So what they are saying is that Peyton does not respond well to criticism and is not a team player, but rather a diva?
Interesting.
Had my team criticized me and the way I dedicate myself to being the best I can be, my response would have been to lead that team to the ultimate achievement and then ask them if they have any more criticism of me and my methods.
But I guess Peyton is made of weaker stuff.
