Or use meth like Mickey Mantle.

Then of course, are Doc Gooden, Daryl Strawberry - quite a few professional ball players using before A-rod.

“Mike Piazza is not Lasorda’s godson, it is his brother.”
How could a 44 year old be the brother of an 86 year old?”

I think that chrisinoc means that Lasorda is godfather to Mike Piazza’s brother. Am I correct chris?

Tall white kids were not competing in basketball with tall black kids 30 years ago. PED’s the mostly likely explanation. However, I do know that the radar gun in stadiums is jacked up by some teams, in order to get oow’s and awe’s from the fans. A friend of mine in the Mets organization told me this.

True story in the same vain. Buddy of mine played for Clint Hurdle in AAA. One time after a game Clint downs a few cold ones and tells his players that they should try everything at least once. Then he goes on to relate that while rooming with George Brett, while both drunk, they both performed a certain sex act on each other. My buddy till this day does not know if Hurdle was just trying to shock to make his point or he was actually telling the truth.

I blame Curt Flood.

I am not a fan of Curt Flood either.

Maybe not, but there are less black kids who opt to play baseball now than in the 70’s. Are there more or less white players on college basketball teams now or 20 years ago?

As far as PEDS and the pitching dominance of the last few years, it could be more pitchers on PEDS or the lack of so many hitters using PEDS. But I think the biggest part is the relief pitching is better and almost nobody chokes up after two strikes now, so strikeouts are way up.

Baseball has become the second most boring sport, behind soccer.

I still pay attention to the games, but I do not think I have watched a whole game, start to finish, in decades, including the playoffs and World Series.

Bravo Tommy, Bravo!

They should just seal the hall of fame and leave out anyone from the steroid era forever.

"I am not a fan of Curt Flood either."

Wasn't it Marvin Miller who REALLY pushed baseball over the edge?

Don't get me wrong, I'm in favor of players not being tied down to "peanut" salaries, but Miller was a big part of the race to the top as far as free agency and ridiculous pay for even mediocre performance.

I’d add Kerry Wood, the difference in his size and stature tell the story, imho.

Thank you for clarifying.

The idea of Tommy Lasorda and Mike Piazza being brothers is...disturbing.
