The title "A Child is Born, a Son is Given" is next to the Nativity scene where Trayvon Martin takes the place of baby Jesus. The Nativity scene was made by artist John Zachary to show the effect of gun violence. Zachary has made controversial nativity scenes in the past, but this might be the most controversial to date.
Trayvon Martin is slumped over wearing a black hoodie, around him blood pools onto straw. The Nativity scene is located at the Claremont United Methodist Church, and it is not a hit with everybody. People took to Facebook to express their opinions. One person posted "How sad to replace the Savior in the nativity scene. What kind of church is this??? I pray that you will understand the real reason for the season
" Another wrote "No Christian I know would ever disparage Jesus Christ with such a repulsive image. I would never attend your church as a fellow Methodist and you ought to be ashamed of yourselves."

Can’t look at the picture. Anyone who’s a member of that church should leave, never to return.
“Claremont United Methodist Church”,”United Methodist”, It figures!
Just when you think words fail, some thing else arises.
A church promoting blasphemy, nice.
Ping!
I’m keeping my thoughts to myself......
Christ died for all. Trayvon died because he was a racist thug on a drug high. No comparison whatsoever.
And lo Trayvon said unto his ho, “A creepy cracker doth follow me in the darkness, verily I shall lay the smackdown upon him...”
LOL!
xzins, have you seen this? ( ( (( shakes head )) ) )
Happy new year, btw! Where ya been lately? Or maybe I should ask, where has Little Jeremiah been, since we often intersect on her threads?
Next will be purple drank and skittles for communion.

Some pastor hoping to make himself relevant through controversy. Unfortunately, he’s put in Jesus’ manger scene one of the criminals who hung beside him on the cross.
Let’s see if he does that on Good Friday.
Trayvon. On the 3rd day, the punk is still dead. I heard of no redeeming qualities in him.
just threw up a little
I am guessing that this Church never really had Jesus in the first place if they’re willing to pass on Jesus.
Ouch! Good one!
I've been taking a class on the Reformation. What has leapt out at me in studying that phenomenon in the past is that both Luther and Wesley did not want to go "forward" to some new version of truth, but to return their respective sects to the true apostolic faith -- as distinct from today's marxist-influenced "progressives", moral relativists and deconstructionists, who clearly want to change the very definition of truth.
Technology changes, but truth is eternal.
