On Monday's The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell, MSNBC's Richard Wolffe mocked NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre for asserting a year ago that "the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun," by using the example of Antoinette Tuff, who last August heroically talked a gunman in a school into surrendering.
Wolffe treated one exceptional and unlikely case as if it proved LaPierre wrong as he awarded Tuff the show's "person of the year" award. Wolffe:

judging from what we now know about the majority of shooters in recent American History, it would seem that if we just banned Liberals from owning guns, gun crimes would drop 75%
I think MSNBC should just patiently explain the benefits of gun control to a perp, and help him understand that he is breaking the law. That will solve all future school shootings.
That O'Donnell would reference that incident makes him look even dumber than usual.
Lanza or Holmes would have shot that woman dead without blinking.
If Libs/Progressives/Statists would follow his (?) advice we could see a marked reduction in their numbers over time. Now that would be something I could support.

Let's make fun of Wolffe all we want, but we should recognize Tuff deserves every kudo she may get.
Exactly. I think we should tell to teach by illustration in these situations.
