Within the realm of possibilities here I see some very intelligent and creative person designing a small tractor like machine with an implement that would lay down the crop to create this effect. The controls for this tractor would be computer and/or precision GPS.
This is not science fiction here. There are many agricultural implements out there now for doing real work such as GPS guided full size tractors and combines. There are so may technological advances in farming it is truly unbelievable. When we bought a CaseIH tractor in 2005 this technology was there, where the salesman said a farmer could cultivate a field from his home using a computer and GPS guided tractor. The salesman could have been BS’ing me in part, but that company did sell GPS guided devices for controlling Case tractors for precision work.

The circles I’m interested in are not where the crops were laid down. I’m talking about the ones where, if the stalks were steel rebar, it looks like someone melted them just above ground level and they bent. It is the condition of the individual plants in the crop circle that tell the story about the whole circles origin and the relevance of any message it may contain.
This is the attribute of the individual plants in the crop circles I find relevant. Anything else, regardless of accuracy and complexity, is man made.
Also, the circles pre-date 2005 by decades.
