Love Zappa. What a shame that he’s gone.

Well, they can play a few bar chords. Is this supposed to be a joke? This is just garage band fare. Of course after the introduction of so-called alternative music expectations are quite low for younger folks these days. Sort of fits in with low expectations of the times — low employment rates, underemployment, low salaries, high taxes, socialist overlords, bland music to be completely forgotten in a few years.

but my favorite on the alhum was, hands down, Spiderman '79.

Veruca Salt has about the best Facebook page of any of those old alt rockers. Click "like" It's worth it.

https://www.facebook.com/verucasaltband

Long story short... Somehow Louise Post retained the name of the band. She toured with a rotating roster of musicians. She partied hard and then didn't. She retired from music. She put away the makeup and hairpsray and lived a civilian life (check out her boring, civilian Facebook Page) and then she returned to music. Then she made a Veruca Salt facebook page.

Jim, Steve and Nina joined her page. It's really kinda cool to read the posts! They all decided to make some new songs.

And, as said, the four of them put together one of the bet FB pages on the web. Lots of old photos.

Thanks for this thread... I just spend the past hour and a half revisiting so many of my favorite popular acts of the early to mid 1990s. Basically type "120 Minutes" into youtube, and there you are...

It's amazing to see how young Nina and Louise were in the Glastonbury video... makes me feel old... really effin' old.

I am glad that someone mentioned Liz Phair... I have retained somewhere the vinyl release of Exile in Guyville... the album that got the most plays, however, was Whip-Smart... I could listen to the song Nashville over and over... I have no clue who put this video together, but they used Nashville and made some music video out of clips of home movies it looks like...

Yep. I hear you. Frank Zappa was a demanding musician and band leader ... back when bands actually had real musicians. His auditions were legendary. Steve Luthaker of Toto didn’t pass it. Most drummers did not last more than a few minutes.

Bozzio is one of the most technical drummers I have ever seen live.

Took me years to realize that the drummer from Missing Persons was in Zappa’s band. I figured Missing Persons was just one of those 80s new wave bands that used electronic drums.

Ever notice how “Girl Bands” like Varuca Salt and The Bangles play their own instruments while “Boy Bands” like Back Street, N Sync, etc... don't?
