A man found dead on Cypress Avenue on Nov. 26 stabbed himself to death, the Santa Cruz County Coroner's Office reported Monday.
The investigation was handled as a homicide after the 57-year-old man was found dead outside his home in a pool of blood around his neck. But an autopsy revealed his wounds were self-inflicted.
Authorities declined to say how many times he was stabbed.

"In my 28 years, I've not heard or seen of a (suicide) case with multiple stab wounds to that degree," Clark said.

My sister, a former OSI agent described a training case. A series of photographs. In the first, a man is seated in a chair, nothing apparently wrong. In the next you can see a Bic pen sticking out of the side of his head. Then, they show a photo of his palm. He’d banged on the pen numerous times, driving it into his brain. Then, he’d wiggled it around. (Man, you really, really have to want to die to do that.)
People often shoot themselves and then have to do it again and again until they manage to kill themselves.
We’re not talking about ordinary people here. These people are what my neighbor would call “batshit crazy.”
Have no idea but when you see suspicious stuff like this it makes ya wonder.
Good thing he didn’t have access to a gun.

During the Clinton years this would have been termed an Arkancide.
That Arkansas coroner declared a suicide when a guy shot himself and cut off his own head, which found in the trash some distance away.
Santa Cruz County factoid and blatant thread detour- a resident may have up to 99 marijuana plants for personal/medicinal use per year. A harvest averages 8 oz.’s per plant, yielding a grower/patient 49.5 lbs. Street value at $400 an ounce, pushes the crop’s total value to $316,800.
