That is a great Brother themed poem.
It made my screen all blurry!
I have a great brother.

Cheers to All at Amy’s Place.

GREAT poem about a brother.

I’ve got a twin brother and the poem reminds me of our growing up time. We’ve got a birthday on Wednesday. Sent him a birthday card.

Y’all have a great New Year!

I know what you mean about brothers and blurry screens. I have two younger brothers and naturally I tend to feel they need a BIG sister. :)

Have a great day, TCP !

In His Grip

December 31, 2013

Read: Romans 8:31-39

I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. —Philippians 3:12
Bible in a Year:
Malachi 1-4; Revelation 22

When we cross a busy street with small children in tow, we put out our hand and say, “Hold on tight,” and our little ones grasp our hand as tightly as they can. But we would never depend on their grasp. It is our grip on their hand that holds them and keeps them secure. So Paul insists, “Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me” (Phil. 3:12). Or more exactly, “Christ has a grip on me!”

One thing is certain: It is not our grip on God that keeps us safe, but the power of Jesus’ grasp. No one can take us out of His grasp—not the devil, not even ourselves. Once we’re in His hands, He will not let go.

We have this assurance: “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand” (John 10:28-29).

Doubly safe: Our Father on one side and our Lord and Savior on the other, clasping us in a viselike grip. These are the hands that shaped the mountains and oceans and flung the stars into space. Nothing in this life or the next “shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom. 8:39).

Father, I thank You for the nail-pierced hands
that reached out in love and took me by my hand.
You have led me by Your right hand throughout life.
I trust You to hold me and keep me safe to the end.
The One who saved us is the One who keeps us.

Good morning, Amy. I saved the brother poem from yesterday so I can write it in my brother’s next birthday card. The poem really struck me, because last Friday my brother helped me get much needed hay bales into my horse barn. Without him, my horses would have run out of hay before we run out of winter. It’s been so cold here. It was 14 below zero 2 nights ago. We had a high of 4 degrees yesterday. I can always count on my brother. Oh no, screen is in danger of getting blurry again! LOL!

I might venture out and try to buy high watt lightbulbs today. I hear Jan. 1 is when our beloved gov’t outlaws them in favor of mercury filled poison bulbs.

I counted my stockpile of bulbs and it’s down to about 75. Not enough to last until after the revolution to restore Edison bulbs. lol.

Cheers

Good morning, TCP.

I know that your brother will appreciate that poem. I’m glad you liked and saved it.

WOW .... A high of 4 degrees! I can’t imagine .... I’ve been complaining about our cold nights. LOL .... the past several night the low temp has been 28 degrees. I’m so happy to see it above the 22 that we had a couple of weeks ago.

No way can I complain about the weather ... we have had no rain and only one morning of fog. You just can’t beat highs in the high 50’s or mid 60’s. We need a change .... this is not normal. We may get spring without ever having a real winter.

Well ... must get ready for an appt; see you later. Have a great day.

*******************************

My resolution for this coming year is to appreciate life more. I want this year's garden to be not only productive, but a joy to work. I want to put 2013 behind us, and make everything that we can of 2014.

Each Day Becomes ...

Each day is "Happy New Year,"
With resolutions made,
Our auld acquaintance hov’ring near,
And fervent prayers prayed!

The world begins anew each morn,
With a marvelous happening!
My eyelids open up and born,
The jeweled world of everything!

With neonatal sense of sight,
I look about the world,
The flagging spirits of the night,
Now have their flags unfurled!

My life begins again, again,
My heart restarts its clock,
I feel like I’m a lad of ten,
And no door has a lock!

Adventure comes to visit me,
With every hour upright,
Each day becomes a victory,
Until I’m claimed by night!

I'm with you .... I'm ready to forget 2013.
