This is very Orwellian: Definition #3 of fascism is "a person who...has extreme right-wing views." Evidently, those who favor smaller government and greater individual liberty are fascists.
Leftists control the language.
The Left will also insist the the National Socialists in Germany were right-wing. “They fought against the Soviet Communists, so the Nazis were right-wing.”
Leftists despise authority when they don’t have it, and they equate authority with evil when they don’t have it.
So did the ChiComs, when Mao was in power.
Yup. Another way leftist/statists are akin to Islamists: they have killed more of their own than anyone else has. By a wide margin.
Is Dictionary.com owned by Wikipedia?
Yes, if the National Socialist Workers Party were still around, I'm sure they'd be conservative Republicans.
They’re owned by IAC, who owned Newsweek up until August of this year. IAC also owns About.com (which they bought from the NY Times last year), Ask.com and OKCupid.com.
Plenty of hardcore liberals claim just that.
“Evidently, those who favor smaller government and greater individual liberty are fascists.”
Small government and individual liberty are not right wing positions; they never have been, and never will be. The communists (who are not liberals) use the fascist or right wing brush to tar their opponents of whatever sort. Just because ignorant people buy it does not require us to join them.
Leftists control the language.
Only to the extent we let them.
Those who define the terms generally win the arguments.
Liberal Fascism Explained

That’s the operant term: collectivist.
Communists, Fascists, Socialists.
In classical political science, yes, Fascism is on the right side of the spectrum.
From left to right
Anarchy - Communism - Socialism - Liberalism - Conservatism - Nationalism - Fascism
This does not mean it matches reality. The ‘right wing’ in America wanta less government, like the classical ‘liberal’ from above. The Socialist and Communist should believe in less government and more control to the people, but in reality, Socialism and Communism are just flavors of government slavery.
Using the term ‘right wing’ is an intentional distortion and attempt to misrepresent the truth. You see the same thing when the media tries to equate a military automatic ‘Assault Rifle’ with the made-up term, ‘Assault Weapon’.
The problem here is the definition of American conservatism as right wing.
The definition of right wing goes back to the French Revolution and refers to the supporters of the Old Regime of absolutism by King and Church. Hardly a limited government group, except in comparison to the Left.
American conservatism is just not right wing in any logical or historical meaning of the term.
The problem therefore is not the equation of Nazism with right wing, since they indeed incorporated many right wing ideas. The problem is the unthinking acceptance of the term right-wing as applicable to American conservatives.
The use of “Fascist” as a broad term of opprobrium was initiated by our good friend Uncle Joe Stalin.
Good Party members and sympathizers everywhere took up the accusation of “fascist” against all who opposed socialism, including classical liberals, who are called today in the USA “conservatives”.
Fascism is left wing. Far right would actually be libertarian.
Far right should be less and less government so libertarian then anarchist. Fascism socialism and communism are all sisters of various degrees of state control or big government.
Thank you. That line chart is correct.
