Cool.

I’m not sure about you or anyone else on this thread, but when I listen to music from Youtube etc.., I’m wearing “noise cancelling” headphones.

It makes a HUGE difference.

Let’s see— was he “influential” like Django Rheinhardt? Or Charlie Parker, or even Miles Davis? Or Les Paul?
Depression needs no salespeople. Nope.

Bummed. Loved his music. It’s weird to say but “Berlin” got me through a lot of rough patches.

And... no point in arguing taste, acquired or otherwise (compelled, financed, marketed) or comparing. That which is remembered over time is timeless. So let’s see in the world of permanent children attention spans.

Bowie had an acetate of the early Velvet Underground album (singed by Andy Warhol, no less) before there was a release.

His band at the time (Riot Squad) recorded a VU cover.

Waiting For My Man" (recorded early 1967, released 2012)

LOL.

I burn through aaa batteries like nobody’s business.

On a side note, if you’re a fan of female vocalists and quality classic “rock” music, you should really like this.

Annie Lennox;

Whiter shade of pale; Procol Harum

Odd that there was no mention of his wife, Laurie Anderson:

It has been my personal observation that drugs-legal or illegal-catch up with and burn a person out years before they would have checked out otherwise-two of my relatives were addicted to prescription drugs-both OD’d in their 60’s-in a family in which living into the 90’s is common. Small wonder the rest of us regard drugs as poison to be avoided.

Nilsson, Johnny Cash, Reed, one of the Gibb brothers, and most of the other musicians who died untimely had used drugs for some years in the past-besides the aforementioned relatives, several friends of mine who’d been users have died in their early 50’s to mid 60’s. Most of them had quit all drugs years before, but their bodies were already trashed.

Hey, you’re becoming a good source of great songs! :o)

I was over the moon crazy for “A Whiter Shade of Pale” when it came out ... still am. Lennox is a really good version but I sorely miss the harpsichord being a big fan.

I saved it.

I knew Lou Reed wasn't doing well lately but this is a shock. Yet another famous musician is dead, dead, dead. It seems that everytime I turn around, another rock/pop star has died. When will the madness end? If this keeps up, there will soon be no more music being created.

I mean, just consider the staggering death toll among famous musicians we have already seen. Teddy Pendergrass, dead. Gerry Rafferty is also dead and we'll never hear him sing "Baker Street" live again. The one guy who drummed in that famous rock band is also dead. Then we have Ray Manzarek of The Doors - can you imagine? Half The Beatles and half of The BeeGees are now dead. One quarter of McFadden & Whitehead are dead. And the list goes on...

We have Bob Welch ("Ebony Eyes") dead. Donna Summer is dead. Davy Jones of The Monkees, Doug Fiedor of The Knack and Andrew Gold of "Lonely Boy" fame all dead, dead, dead.

You think I'm finished? I'm not even beginning. Two people from the band whose name I can't remember but they were big stars. Then you have the saxophone playing guy from the E Street Band (and the one who played keyboards too). Then you have Bo Diddley, Isaac Hayes, Bruce Hornsby, John Stewart, Laura Branigan and that guy who played guitar for that 1960s band - you know the one.

I could go on and on but you get the picture. Way too many people in the music biz are dying and unless we want the music to stop forever, we've got to do something about it.

But wait there’s more,

Very hard to find but, the “Legacy: A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac Rumours” is a must own.

OK, now I need to get a better understanding of the type of music you “really” like.

Beth Hart - LA Song

I was a big Fleetwood Mac fan during the “Then Play On” years.

I had never heard of Beth Hart. Good. Was curious about the LA Song aspect being an LA native myself. ;o)

Bowie’s “Spiders From Mars” and decided to hear that, then I found and played some Doors, then...
