Marcia Wallace -- who voiced Edna Krabappel on "The Simpsons" -- died last night in Los Angeles ... TMZ has learned.

Marcia's caregiver tells us ... the actress passed away at home with her family by her side. We're told she had been sick for the past few months ... but the caregiver couldn't go into specifics.

Wallace has been on TV since the 70's -- and spent 3 decades on various game show panels like "Hollywood Squares", "The $25,000 Pyramid" and "Match Game" ... as well as receptionist Carol Kester on "The Bob Newhart Show."

R.I.P.
I was too young in the 70’s to care for “Bob Newhart”.
Edna got married to Ned Flanders. Who will do her voice now? Or will Ned lose another wife.

I heard rumors that one of the Simpson’s characters was going to die. Looks like it’s going to be Edna.

The Bob Newhart Show is still one of the funniest TV shows of all time. Marcia Wallace was great as Carol. R.I.P.

PS. Googling Edna Krabappel brings up some very disturbing Rule 34 images...

Rule 34: If it exists, there is porn of it. No exceptions.

The earliest boyhood crush I can remember was on Carol the Secretary on reruns of the The Bob Newhart show. Just something about that tall, lean, big-haired redhead really did it for me. Call me crazy, my taste is women is mine alone and nobody else has to live with it.

This week I heard that the gal that voices Bart Simpson had turned 55. It’s tough to think back and realize that “The Simpsons” has been around for 25 years.
