Despite what you may have seen in other headlines, there will be no change to the male uniform cover. Straight from the Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. James F. Amos:
1. The President in no way, shape or form directed the Marine Corps to change our uniform cover.
2. We are looking for a new cover for our female Marines for one overriding reason: the former manufacturer went out of business.
3. The Marine Corps has zero intention of changing the male cover.
It sounds to me as though a “trial balloon” might have been shot down.
Respectfully, if this is so then why did the USMC create a variant of the cover for men and publish photos of a male marine wearing it? I suppose I should interpret "had zero intention..." as "now has zero intention...".
All this denial almost make the change a certainty. :)
A post with the same question was on the FB page. Reply:
Marines: The original survey pushed out with the Dan Daly cover was incorrect and pulled, but not before media ran a story about it. There will be no change to the male cover.
Then please explain the picture of the man wearing one too!
Zero intention of changing the male cover, except, well, maybe having everyone wear the Dan Daley cover. But that’s up to the board to give a recommendation and will be reviewed. We repeat, we have no intention of changing the male cover, yet.
Gosh, it is like they are a government agency.
There was a survey in regards to changing the female cover.
LOL I was looking at their facebook page and they were born in 1775. Long time line for that page! It would be a good history lesson if they could allow posts to previous years.
What - with all the new business?
Time to find a Chinese one.
Boy, I don’t get out much. They do have information on each year. Cool!
We could open a part-time only business. I wonder why the company that makes the male covers doesn’t make the female covers.
By the way, I do not like the Army berets. I like my brothers uniform from Nam era.
This “reassurance” comes from Obama’s lackeys. Please tell me you are not going to believe it.
IMO, the old 1920s version of the cap is far superior to more recent versions, and the new proposed (so-called) Dan Daly is now less “Dan Daly,” and indeed, more “girly” since it more resembles the one worn by WRs these last many years!
See Gunnery Sergeant Dan Daly Pic, below, shown w/the 1920s headgear, and w/his two medals of honor worn around his neck.

He must have wanted to copy the cover of Sgt Major Dan Daly.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Daly:
Sergeant Major Daniel Joseph “Dan” Daly (November 11, 1873 April 27, 1937) was a United States Marine and one of only nineteen men (including seven marines) to have received the Medal of Honor twice [Plus an Army Distinguished Service Cross]. Of the Marines who are double recipients, only Daly and Major General Smedley Butler received their Medals of Honor for two, separate actions.
Daly is said to have yelled, “Come on, you sons of bitches, do you want to live forever?” to the men in his company prior to charging the Germans during the Battle of Belleau Wood in World War I, imitating the words of the Prussian King Frederick the Great at the Battle of Kolin.
Major General Butler described Daly as, “The fightin’est Marine I ever knew!” Daly reportedly was offered an officer’s commission twice to which he responded that he would rather be, “...an outstanding sergeant than just another officer.”
It will be delayed at least, like obamacare.
“It sounds to me as though a trial balloon might have been shot down.”
Agreed
