The long-running game show “Jeopardy” featured an entire category on The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints last night. The category was popular as it was the first one chosen in the round. The “answers” in the category included missionaries, the Tabernacle, Marion Romney, Joseph Smith and Deseret Industries. Every contestant who was asked a question got it right.

Here's some questions Jeopardy could have asked were the subject...
Book of Mormon on Women

(For those who don't know "Jeopardy," the answer comes first)
Answer: 2%
Question: What % of the 250 or so characters in the Book of Mormon are female?

Answer: Once
Question: How many times are “sisters” even referenced in the Book of Mormon? [The only reference I've found is 2 Nephi 5:6 – and even then these sisters of Nephi are unnumbered & unnamed]

Answer: Sarai
Question: Who's the only wife mentioned by name in the Book of Mormon?

Answer: Abish
Question: Who's the only daughter mentioned by name in the Book of Mormon?

Answer: They Don't Exist
Question: Who are the sisters mentioned by name in the Book of Mormon?

Why the focus on the female aspect? Why not focus on the fact that it is not the word of God instead?

What are you wearing under your pants?

I think the correct Jeopardy framing might go something like this:

Answer: Magic underwear

Question: What is the most spiritually protective piece of wardrobe in the average Mormon closet?

I don’t know if this is supposed to be controversial or bad, but I think it is entirely appropriate to have some knowledge of the Mormon movement; it has been a force in American history.

I am not a Mormon, and do believe the theology as I understand it is anathema to classical Christianity. But I would gladly accept a Mormon as a civic or business leader; they’re generally speaking good people. Not Harry Reid, though.

Mitt Romney, a Mormon, was head and shoulders above the narcissist currently occupying the Oval Office.

Yeah, I’ve got a flame proof suit on. Fire away. :)

#1...I needed a simple "quick sample";
#2...I had already published the above at least three years ago on an FR thread...

Answer: A place where Mormons and Indians murdered a bunch of settlers. Question: Where is Mountain Meadows?

Yes.

Perhaps even a better version might be:

Answer: What was the very first domestic terrorist act committed against innocent American citizens on September 11?

Question: What is the Mountain Meadows Massacre?

My experience, too. Very good people.

(Hey, when you're auditioning for godhood -- like temple Mormons are, you better be on your best outward behavior)...

Of course...I'm sure the Pharisees' neighbors of Jesus' day would have complimented them...even Jesus did re: their OUTWARD behavior...saying at one point that unless one's righteousness exceeded theirs, they would in no wise inherit the Kingdom of God...

Of course, the rest of the story about the Pharisaical religious assessment -- their inward one -- can be found with Jesus' assessment in matthew 23...
