The head of the union representing Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents slammed President Barack Obama for saying he will push immigration reform now that the fiscal crisis is solved.
The president is in no position to demand Congress pass immigration reform, Chris Crane, president of the National ICE Council said in a statement Thursday. His administration and DHS leadership have undermined ICEs enforcement mission and put the public safety and national security at risk.
In an interview with the Los Angeles affiliate of Univision on Tuesday, Obama said immigration reform will be a top priority once Congress reaches agreements on the government shutdown and debt ceiling.
Once thats done, you know, the day after, Im going to be pushing to say, call a vote on immigration reform, Obama said. Congress passed and Obama signed that agreement Wednesday.
According to Crane whose union vocally opposed the Senate-passed immigration bill and is suing the Obama administration for preventing enforcement of immigration law the presidents policies stand in the way of allowing immigration officers to keep communities safe.
Officers are currently forced to apply his DREAMer orders to detainees in prisons and jails, he said. Aggravated felons, child molesters and other violent criminals are released every day back into communities based on the presidents unlawful policies.
He further lamented that while ICE officers requested a meeting with Obama eight months ago, they still have yet to meet even as the president have met with big labor, big business and pro-amnesty activist groups.
This administration has shown contempt for law enforcement and ICE personnel, Crane said.
I hope Democrats and Republicans in the House will reject the calls of the White House and its big business allies seeking to profit from reform, and make its first priority on immigration to investigate the corruption at [the Department of Homeland Security], he concluded.
Cranes criticism of the president comes the same day Alabama Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions hammered Obama for his continued push for immigration reform in the wake of a poor job market.
All over the country, Americans are struggling to find work, Sessions said. It is unthinkable that the President would continue to lobby Congress on behalf of special interests in order to double the flow of immigrant workers into the country, as bills in both the House and Senate propose.
Cranes union represents about 7,600 ICE officers, agents and support staff.
Crane won a stunning initial court victory in his lawsuit against the Obama Administration. As we reported, Federal Judge Federal Judge Reed OConnor told the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that they had no power to refuse to deport illegal aliens, and that he was likely to strike down Obamas virtual DACA amnesty for millions of illegal aliens. The ruling stunned Washington, and Cranes lawsuit could derail Obamas four-year effort to undermine immigration enforcement nationwide.

Well, he’s not going to negotiate with you. So whutch you gonna do?
Meanwhile, he’ll furlough border agents and close detention centers just to make his point.
Hey union dudes, the con man does not need your votes anymore, which is why he does not give a crap.
With that lawsuit I thought the judge said it was out of his jurisdiction?
Regardless they need to take the lawsuit through another part of the legal system and see that play out.
I think it was the CIS Immigration Studies that showed the crimes committed by “otherwise law abiding” illegal aliens.
If they talk about only deporting rapists and killer illegal aliens that is a misdirection. Usually they will be serving long prison sentences so you make sure they serve the sentence.
A huge number of these people are committing fraud, dangerous driving and profiting from human trafficking at all levels.
You also need leverage when you arrest an illegal if they help you rat out pedos, drunk drivers and killers. If none of them get threatened with deportation none of them will talk.
It sounds like they have a good union. I used to belong to the National Treasury Employees Union which also represented Border Patrol. I guess they have changed since then.
I resigned from NTEU because they were pushing abortion and I didn’t think that was any of their business. I will say they were aggressive in representing their members and sometimes that was necessary.
H@LL NO.
No more immigration while our unemployment rate is higher than a blasted kite.
No more immigration.
None. Zero.
Excellent!
Sorry Mr Crane, but both democrats and republicans will just ignore anything that the people say, ignore the rule of law, and lie right to your face, solely to get a paycheck from their corporate masters. The federal government is just another business, and like any other business, will sell to the highest bidder. So shut up and pay your taxes, because your government masters are not making enough money, and you’ll do so without complaint, if you know what’s good for you, serf.
This could be interesting because the immigration law specifically forbids the setting of policy as a work around to the immigration law. Of course the INA is not a “law of the land” which Obama feels obligated to follow.
Incipient pubbie elite betrayal warning. Also Soros and his minions are descending on DC to get amnesty passed.

...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.
Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.
Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.
Lets start that conversation by acknowledging we arent going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.
If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...
This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.
Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.
[but hes not in favor of amnesty, snicker, definition of is is]
