Of all the records Peyton Manning is laying waste to through the first five weeks of this season -- 20 passing touchdowns, 1,884 passing yards, 230 points -- it is perhaps this number that best defines how dominant he and the Denver Broncos have been: minus-28.
That's how many points Denver is favored by over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6 opening lines posted by the Las Vegas Hotel.
According to The Gold Sheet, a sports-betting publication that has been tracking point spreads since the 1950s, that number ties the highest spread of all time, set by the Baltimore Colts over the expansion Atlanta Falcons in 1966. The Falcons covered. It is the highest since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970.

That last game was pretty close
“That’s why they play the game.”
Denver needs a mobile quarterback. How can they possibly win in this league with a classic quarterback?
i’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you left off you sarcasm tag. :-)
Sarcasm off......Denver still hasn’t played anybody. Dallas and Baltimore are at best average teams (Baltimore took a step back after winning the Super Bowl) the rest of the teams the Broncos blew out stinks
Let’s see how they do against the Chiefs’ defense.
I’ll take the Jags and the points. 28 is just too much to give. The Broncos will take their foot off the offensive gas at some point, the Jags will score some BS garbage time points and cover.
We’ve been trying the mobile QB thing here in Philly for 23 years. I suggest another path.
The last Denver game went over 100 combined points scored.
The next Denver game might do it too.
The Colts were right, manning tool old to play on the nfl
The next Denver game might do it too.
Only if the Broncos put up 80 of those points. Jacksonville is terrble. They haven't scored more than 20 points in a game all year.
51+48 = 99.
Ugh - my sympathies! Love me some Peyton legs... that doesn’t sound right...
The question is, how soon do they pull Peyton and the other starters?
My guess is with about 5 minutes left in the first half.
I am sorry to disagree, but Dallas is much better than an average team.
They are NOT an elite team (since they do NOT have a shutdown defense), but they are not an “average” team.
I too look forward to Denver matching up with the Chiefs. Dallas played both of those teams close and barely lost in both cases.
As I watched that game yesterday, about five minutes into the third quarter I said, “Who ever has the ball last will be the winner of this game.” Unfortunately, I was right.
