Full title: Meet the Man Who Caught Cop on Camera Forcibly Removing His Pro-Gun Sign and Why His Attorney Says It Could Be a Really Big Deal
The man who caught a police officer on camera removing his pro-Second Amendment sign from his front yard says his First Amendment rights are being stifled and he takes his constitutional rights very seriously.
Jon Gibson, of Lake Lincolndale, N.Y., told TheBlaze in an exclusive interview on Tuesday that he has retained an attorney and they are considering our options moving forward. His attorney, Richard Bombardo, said there is a potential case for criminal trespassing, vandalism and larceny, pending additional findings.

My First Amendment rights are being stifled and my due process by taking my sign without citing me first, Gibson told TheBlaze. I never received a formal citation, and thats my gripe.
The police officer has no right to take my property, to destroy my property without giving me a receipt or citing me, he added.
Fire his @$$.
A formal complaint should be filed against this creep and formal charges filed against him for trespass and theft/vandalism at the least. It is past time to push back.
In time it’ll happen, I’m glad the gentleman got lawyered up...I’d like to read that the NRA gets involved in the near future.
He has a lot of support from the NYFirearms owners forum: http://www.nyfirearms.com/forums/laws-politics/60634-so-remember-my-repeal-safe-act-sign-issue-27.html
I read another article that stated the city had sent him notice saying the sign was a code violation. There is probably more to the story than “cop steals sign”.
Given that they have a “chief” (ilo a sheriff), they are probably all ‘rats.
"Put up a Support Dunkin Doughnuts sign, and that thing will be protected till the end of time from Jello-Man"
Fire him, prosecute him and sue him.
If that were true, wouldn’t he have confronted the owner instead of kicking it down like a leftist punk? When the SHTF, these guys are making enemies on both sides of the spectrum.
Go even bigger. Sue the cop, and the city, and everyone who could conceivably be held responsible, for conspiring to deprive the guy of his civil rights. What is good for the goose is good for the gander.
There is probably more to the story than we know. I am not saying he was right or wrong since I don’t know all the facts. But around here the community service cop will drive around and take down all the realtor and rummage sale signs that are placed on corners and such.
Thanks Tai
I called this morning...the line was *busy*.
** he was instructed to remove the sign once by the towns building inspector, though he claims he ultimately was told he could leave it up.**
Who is the doughnut-eater in the picture? The chief of police and the mayor need to realize that fat jerk is too stupid to be a police officer and fire him before his coffee cools down.
Better call Saul !
If the town claims some kind of ownership of the land where he’s been placing the sign, he should file suit for return of a portion of the taxes he’s been paying for years, citing as the basis of his suit the diminished value for his inability to use his property.
This is the PRIME reason cops HATE cameras !! Ha! Ha!
