Before the Gulf War I used to hunt out in the boonies in KS. The A-10s were always around in pairs and many times I would be driving down a dirt road and see a pair turn in to me from a mile off. They would fly right at me until about a half mile or less away then flare off. I know I was gunnery practice and I was glad to help out.
One warm day deer hunting I sorta fell asleep under a tree. I woke up when two of them passed right over at tree top height. I never heard the approach but I heard the exit.
