Kudos to the 19-year-old college kid who intervened last night when he saw a homeless man hitting a woman on the subway platform. But it went about as well as all of the other witnesses pretending not to see what was happening thought it would: Jered Harvey, who sounds very polite, was then punched in the face and thrown onto the tracks. "He was boxing me out," the student told the Daily News of his terrifying time near the third rail. "I moved right, he moved right. I moved left, he moved left." Harvey made it up to the platform before a train arrived, and then, for reasons unknown, the attacker just stood around until the police arrived and arrested him. This story sends mixed messages about getting involved in public disputes, so stick to whatever your original plan was going to be.
Carry a heater.
Ann Coulter (sorry don’t have a pic handy) recently found the tipping point about when mass shootings started to be more common. This was in the ‘70’s when we were no longer allowed to lock up crazy people (thanks to the libs). This is also when the homeless “problem” began. Hmmm, interesting, there may be a connection here as well.
What was the original plan? Just ignore it? And what was the “mixed message”?
But this is NY Magazine, liberal central, where women are all harridans and the men are wusses. This guy did right, and he knew it was dangerous. A big salute to him!

Is that seriously advice to let a man beat a woman in public and pretend you don’t see?
Real men don’t do that. Metrosexuals and journalists might, but then again, nobody cares if they live or die.

Sadly, the people this happens to are never the same ones who show up at City Council meetings complaining at length about lack of compassion toward the homeless.
If you’re in a mid-sized or smaller town, drop by and watch your Council at work. The left has a well coordinated campaign to boost any entitlement they can get a piece of. The number of ordinary citizens who show up and say, “wait a minute, that’s our tax money” are few... but they can have an impact just by letting the elected know they’re being watched.

We had a winter shelter issue a few years back where the City Council was besieged by half a hundred “local homeless”. One of the Councilmembers looked into it a little further and discovered they were mostly imported from some other town by the “homeless advocates”.
And, if you can’t carry a heater, a street fight is no place to engage in “boxing.” Fight dirty and fast. Emphasis on dirty. End it quick. Cripple the sumbitch, and walk away.
You only end up getting sued. If it comes down to saving a life from a thug, I'll do what it takes and no more. (I do, naturally, carry.) And then I will get out of there as fast as possible before any cops arrive.

Original plan here in Texas would go something like this,
Blam, Blam, Blam, Blam, Blam, Blam,
“Nice shooting mam, you got ‘em center mass even as he flopped about as he went down.
