It’s a sport folks like to whine about.
Correction: It’s a sport people with no athletic ability like to whine about (and constantly criticize, for some reason).
Its’ “keep away” played with your feet..
My impression from watching a few US national team games is that the players haven’t generally had much time to play together, and their individual skills/talents are not great, so they generally have to make up for these defects by relying on pure grit to advance. “We try harder” seems to be their motto, except - unlike Avis - they never seem to ever get to be runner-up, let alone the champs. I guess that’s what happens when the nation’s most formidable athletic talents are funneled into other sports.
Definitely a work in progress.
Good game, though. Really enjoyed watching it. I especially was thrilled to see all the Gadsden flags being waved in the sold out stadium!
A big league soccer game is great to view in person, but on TV not so much. In contrast, I’d much rather watch an NFL game on the tube than go to the stadium.
I am so so happy and proud of our boys.
Sucks to mexico!
LoL!
Aaaah finally, something good. :)
Great win last night. Going to be interesting to see how it all comes together for next year. Klinsmann has done a great job so far.
“What’s soccer?”
Something Mexicans care about.
IN before “boring” and “gay” revelations of the usual deep thinking discoverers!
Soccer is basically hockey without the puck, sticks, ice, or blood.
It should have been 3-0, but Dempsey missed a PK at the end....I wonder if he was doing them a favor to try to help their Goal Differential, because they are tied on points for the last spot with Panama, and Panama leads them in goals scored.
You forget: and countless commercials for Cialis and auto insurance.
I like to think he missed to keep the “Dos a Cero” streak alive. It’s always possible he just plain botched it though.
If Mexico makes it to Brazil it might be because of that missed kick, they would have been down on goal differential to Panama, but as it stands they are equal, with Panama having the edge due to more goals scored.
The Mexico-Panama game will be HUGE! Frankly, I’d love to see Panama qualify, especially at the expense of Mexico.
Ditto all that, DFW. If we meet Mexico again in Brazil, it’s going to be ugly.
I saw the game.
Mexico started out quite well. They were looking for a quick goal to hopefully throw the US off their game - but it didn’t happen.
The second half was all US. After the US’s first goal, Mexico looked deflated and really didn’t get any scoring opportunities.
