My impression from watching a few US national team games is that the players haven’t generally had much time to play together, and their individual skills/talents are not great, so they generally have to make up for these defects by relying on pure grit to advance. “We try harder” seems to be their motto, except - unlike Avis - they never seem to ever get to be runner-up, let alone the champs. I guess that’s what happens when the nation’s most formidable athletic talents are funneled into other sports.
Good game, though. Really enjoyed watching it. I especially was thrilled to see all the Gadsden flags being waved in the sold out stadium!
A big league soccer game is great to view in person, but on TV not so much. In contrast, I’d much rather watch an NFL game on the tube than go to the stadium.
I am so so happy and proud of our boys.
Sucks to mexico!
LoL!
Aaaah finally, something good. :)
Great win last night. Going to be interesting to see how it all comes together for next year. Klinsmann has done a great job so far.
IN before “boring” and “gay” revelations of the usual deep thinking discoverers!
It should have been 3-0, but Dempsey missed a PK at the end....I wonder if he was doing them a favor to try to help their Goal Differential, because they are tied on points for the last spot with Panama, and Panama leads them in goals scored.
I saw the game.
Mexico started out quite well. They were looking for a quick goal to hopefully throw the US off their game - but it didn’t happen.
The second half was all US. After the US’s first goal, Mexico looked deflated and really didn’t get any scoring opportunities.
