If surfing legend and innovator Laird Hamilton is right, those old-fashioned, boxy golf carts driving around courses could soon be history. What would replace the Flintstones-like mode of transportation for golfers? It might be this high-tech device.
The “GolfBoard” seen above is the dream of a group of seven scientists, engineers, inventors and forward thinkers. They are hoping to generate enough financial support via the crowd-funding site Kickstarter, to get the seed money needed to move the GolfBoard from the drawing board to fairways everywhere.
The design is a simple one. It is basically a snowboard with a drivetrain attached below. The motor is controlled by a hand-held device similar to those used for video games. And based on specs from the company, the GolfBoard will be able to handle the typical round of golf, while carrying a player, a set of clubs, snacks and beverages.

Can you drive one while drinking a 12 pack? Then it will never be all over golf courses.
1) Wheels look to narrow for the weight. They would leave ruts all over the course.
2) Battery looks too small for the weight. They wouldn’t run long enough.
3) No spot to sit down. One of the virtues of a regular golf cart.
4) Only carries one. A typical golf cart carries a party of 4. So you need four of these or one golf cart.
5) No shade. Typical golf cart provides a spot of shade also. Great for a kid or wife tagging along.
Now if you changed the rules to allow hitting from one of these... at speed, then you might have something.

I play much better when I walk....
...but like most, when I use a cart it’s with friends and indulge in a few brewskies and cigars.
This thing will never work, no place to put the beer.
However, for those of you unfamiliar with Mr. Laird Hamilton’s sork you may want to go to youtube and check him out.
He gets drug in to 100 foot waves in the middle of no where to surf em.
That said, there may be a market for these things but they will never replace golfcarts.
Now who the heck wants to stand up on a golf cart?

A sturdy lass with real thighs... no hotdog legs!
Put someone on these things, especially after a stop for a cold one at the clubhouse, and it is a recipe for injury.
