Despite pressure, Ryan unchanged in support of immigration overhaul
SunSentinel ^ | Sept 4, 2013 | Roxana Tiron

WASHINGTON — Paul Ryan is under pressure to drop his support for revising U.S. immigration laws: His adversaries are running television attack ads against him and warning of a primary challenge to the Wisconsin Republican congressman.

Ryan is risking a "showdown with the tea party," said Bob Dane, an opposition leader, in reference to the anti-tax movement that backs primary challenges to some incumbents.

The effort to make him switch his position isn't working: Ryan says he is committed to passing a law to allow 11 million undocumented immigrants to eventually become U.S. citizens. His conviction — dating to his work for fellow Republican Jack Kemp two decades ago — is rooted in economic policy, Ryan's Catholic faith, and Wisconsin's German and Irish immigrants.

Sometimes its good to stand fast on principle, but its never a good idea to be stubborn when you're wrong.

Bye bye Ryan.

Why give legal status to millions who take welfare and take instead of pay taxes?
Then what often happens with the kids is you get dropouts and problem people.
In the end they tend to not love America either.

End it, don’t mend it.

Close the border for 5 years completely and then talk about others.

PS, they on our nickel are birthing large families having everything paid for and I can’t afford more children because I actually have to pay.

There are some districts where I’d be tempted to vote for the democrat to ensure I know who the enemy is.

If what you’re proposing is a complete ban on any immigration - legal and illegal - for a five years my only response is make it ten.

Of course he hasn’t changed his mind. His position probably wasnt ideological to begin with. He was probably promised something. As long as the promise exists, he’ll support amnesty.

Rand Paul’s immigration speech

...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let’s start that conversation by acknowledging we aren’t going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

[but he’s not in favor of amnesty, snicker, definition of is is]

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner.

I think it would be amazing, with all the associated costs that go with immigration, if that happened. At that same time, gradually, but steadily start reducing their benefits. It would probably be shocking how fast they would be headed back south and back to the Middle East.

Who knows. America might start looking like America, again.

If you are a practicing Catholic, from what I am hearing from my Catholic friends, you are hearing the priest support immigration amnesty and all the goes with it. The heck with the country, but it will help the Church....

This is the man who LOST, or came about even, in a debate with Bi-Dumb! A debate you'd have to actively TRY to lose. Tells you all you need to know.

If he does have the smarts, he doesn't have the heart.

NO immigration of either basic kind would be fundamental change and an interesting experiment.

I would propose that, since the federal government has demonstrated that it cannot enforce the immigration laws we now have, much less the ones proposed, a six-year track record be kept on zealous enforcement of existing immigration laws before ANY new legislation is even considered.

That would put it to bed for good.

“12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors”

First off, he’ll never be affected by them, given where he chooses to live and work, so that’s a no brainer.

Buuttttttttt.....

Mr Smarty Pants, thats the point.

They DO NOT assimilate into society. They force society to change for them and their interests.

They DO NOT become productive contributors. They pop as many kids as they can and suck the trough dry. Only to raise future....MS13, LOS SOLIDOS, ZETAS, MEXICAN MAFIA, etc etc...henchmen.

Great plan from that D-BAG Paul Ryan.

Who knows - those legal ones who choose to stay might even decide they love and respect the country, since they'd be staying for something other than the freebies.

They might even begin to consider themselves American first.

We need to repeal Ted Kennedy's 1965 immigration bill and go back to the idyllic days of immigration in the late 19th and early 20th century.

No more foreigners from Africa, Latin America, or the Middle East.

Just another reason why the liberal party of the GOP lost the election last year. Another conservative sellout. I hope the Tea Party takes him down.
