Abortion advocates like to call pro-lifers the extremists, but is that really the case? As evidence, lets examine Jessica Valentis latest pro-abortion rallying cry:
Its time resuscitate the old rallying cry for free abortions on demand without apology. It may not be a popular message but its absolutely necessary. After all, the opposition doesnt have nearly as many caveats. Theyre fighting for earlier and earlier bans on abortions, pushing for no exceptions for rape and incest, fighting against birth control coverage even insisting that they have the right to threaten abortion providers. The all-out strategy is working; since 2010 over 50 abortion clinics have stop providing services.
Earlier this month, I went to the launch of All Above All, a campaign dedicated to restoring public funding for abortion. I listed to partners in the campaign representatives from organizations like the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health and the Center for Reproductive Rights describe the desperate need to stop treating funding for abortion as a third rail issue. They talked about women who had to sell diapers and formula to be able to afford their abortions, and the incredible toll the Hyde Amendment takes on low-income families. Its a message reproductive justice proponents and organizations have been hammering home for years, a message the mainstream movement has been hesitant to take on.
I understand the trepidation we live in a country where even talking about insurance coverage for birth control erupted in a national slut-shaming extravaganza. But the cost of remaining mainstream-friendly is too high. Women should not have to count on bowl-a-thons and yard sales to be able to access the care they need. As wonderful as abortion funds are, their existence is proof that the U.S. is failing the most in need.
So evidently, it isnt enough for abortion to just be legal. Abortion needs to be free, and available on demand meaning at any time, for any reason, no matter what. A woman should never have any hurdles, whatsoever, to killing her unborn child. And of course, nothing is actually free. What free actually means is taxpayer-funded. Despite the fact that the majority of Americans feel that abortion is morally wrong, Valenti and her ilk think that all of these Americans should be forced to fund abortion.
The legality of abortion may be an issue on which Americans remain fairly evenly split. Its true that a sizable number of people dont want abortion completely banned. But the vast, overwhelming majority also agree with a heavy amount of restrictions on abortion as well gestational limits, parental notification laws, etc. And forcing all taxpayers to pay for abortion is certainly not a proposal that enjoys widespread public support. Yet this is exactly what Valenti and her fellow pro-aborts want.
Ironic, isnt it? Valenti is advocating for the very thing that her crowd so often accuses pro-lifers of doing: forcing what they want onto everyone else. They dont care if the rest of the country disagrees. They dont care if you dont want to pay for someones abortion. If they had their way, you would be forced to fund it.
And its pro-lifers who are the extremists?
Actually, I like the word “choice”.
I can let any woman have the “choice” to boink some guy and “choose” to have or to kill the foetus.
However, I’d like an equal “choice” to tell the wench that I will not pay for 1) any birth control devices, 2) her illegal child or 3) her abortion.
Hey wench, you did it, you pay for it. And I don’t give a smelly Obama what happens to you.
Period.
Again, that’s I don’t give a smelly Obama!!!
If uncaring, selfish oafs like this promoted responsible behavior and the use of contraceptives as avidly as they promote abortion, a lot more than just 50 abortuaries would close.
So what if it’s a hardship for some women to pay for abortion? If they have to pay for it themselves, just maybe they’ll choose to fork out the $9/mo for the pill instead of several hundred dollars every few months for abortions.
I’m all for choice. Educate the prospective abortion client on pregnancy, discuss with her truthfully what the fetus experiences at its current stage of development, and show her a high quality sonogram before and the dead baby afterwards; only when she is informed can she really make a choice. Without information, she’s only having an abortion because of untruthful high pressure sales tactics.
Let’s look at the water glass as if it was half-full.
Maybe the continued use of abortions among self-proclaimed more ‘progressive’ members of society will result in a cleansing of the gene pool of the recessive ‘progressive’ gene.
It’s the fight for the unborn we’re talking about here.
Not the stupidity, dependency or politics of the mother or father.
Just as I said. 0bamacare is going to make abortion, aids treatment, sex-change operations and euthanasia free.
Actually, we have had the use of abortion as birth control for a long enough period of time to start to see an effect on the gene pool. Since women who have abortions are less likely to have children (both because of psychological factors and physical damage preventing future live births), they *are* weeding their genes out of the gene pool. A weak maternal instinct is almost certainly the product of genetics; it is just one trait that is being bred out through abortion.
OTOH, it is still a brutal and horrible experience for those babies who are being killed, no matter what their genetics are.
Abortuaries...what a great term, never heard it before. Thanks for spreading the truth!
You’re welcome!
I wish I could take credit for the term, but I can’t.
