In fact, the claim is that IT now uses 10% of the worlds electricity: All the more reason NOT to use electricity to power cars when other options are available.
To: Beave Meister; GeronL
The global digital economy, also known as the ICT system (information-communications-technologies), sucks up as much electricity today as it took to illuminate the entire planet in 1985. The WHOLE planet STILL is not illuminated.

anybody that believes a phone running from a 1200 milli-amp hour battery uses more power than a refrigerator literally should not be allowed to vote.
Really.
And Global Warming is killing us all....and the Government is here to help.
If you really believe a refrigerator uses less power, try plugging your regrigerator into a USB port for a hour or so a day and see how cold your milk will be.
Most refrigerators draw 2,5 or more AMPS of power while running. Just to review a 1000 MilliAmp battery is 1 AMP for 1 Hour. So if your refrigerator uses 5 AMPs, it can only run for 12.5 minutes a day before the battery is 100% exhausted.
People nowadays don’t think for themselves.
To: Gen.Blather
The global digital economy consumes as much electricity today as it took to illuminate the entire planet in 1985. Now THAT is a statistic. But note that it does leave a somewhat incorrect impression in the reader's mind because lighting doesn't actually consume much of the electricity produced.

This is one environuttie propaganda campaign that I like, because it will backfire. Good luck selling this to liberals and college kids.
